How do Monsters, Ghouls and Creeps celebrate Halloween?

This question has troubled me for quite some time. Do they stay at home, disgusted by the capitalistic parody it has become? Do they go out and terrorize... reminding the human population of whos night it really is? Or maybe they join in on the fun... dressing up, bobbing for apples and pigging out on candy?

Then I happened across a story of the dreaded Black Ra. Having lost his leg and an eye in a grave robbing incident (his!!), Black Ra decided to take revenge upon those who violated his tomb. He gathered up his decaying rags, fashioned himself an eye patch, slapped on a Peg Leg and now terrorizes up and down the Nile River. An ancient Egyptian with a penchant for treasure hunting and piracy, taking back what once was his... and a whole lot more.

So in honor of Black Ra the Pirate Mummy, the Scaries and I are having a contest. Dress up your favorite Monster, Ghoul, Ghost, Creep, Vamp, etc. for Halloween!




RULES:

The rules are simple... dress up a Creature of the Night (or day)... in a costume for Halloween.

This can be a Classic monster (Dracula, Wolfman, etc.), or new breed (Freddy, Saw Puppet, Pyramid Head. LOL!) or a creepy denizen entirely of your own making (aka Original Character). They can be wearing the guise of another Nightstalker, or a Tutu... wherever your imagination takes you!

Dale Diablo and his lovely gal Fran have dressed up for the occasion already... to help inspire you!! Check out their fab costumes!!


Some particulars:

1. All artwork for this contest must be NEW. Anything dated before todays date (Oct. 2nd, 2008) will be disqualified.

2. This is a visual art contest, so its open to Traditional and Digital Drawing and Illustration. Literature and photos of people in costume will not be considered. Photo Manipulation is a grey area... if I get submissions I feel are in line with the purpose of this contest I may include them. This will be entirely up to my discretion, so submit them at your own risk.

3. No Mature Content.... PG ratings only. That means no nudity or funky stuff like Yaoi, Yuri, Hentai, OctiPorn, etc. This is a costume contest... not an outlet for Universal Porn fantasies!


Just a side note... I know Anime is a huge trend here on DeviantART. I don't want to rule out Anime "style", but I prefer it be used creatively. I am not a huge fan of Anime Fan Art, so for it to be considered it will have to be unique. Drawings of Naruto as the Wolfman or Sailor Moon as a Chibi Princess are NOT what this contest is about.




SUBMITTING:

Its easy.... post your artwork in your gallery and send me a Note with a link to your Contest entry. Use "Contest Entry" in the subject line so I know it is for this contest. I will be making a Favorites Folder with all the submissions for everyone to enjoy.

JUDGING:

Its all up to me and the Scaries. This means the ever-spastic Wilf Bane is involved... and he loves mischief. This contest is meant to be fun.... so don't take yourself to seriously. We love humor, sarcasm and random chaos! So keep that in mind while creating your Monster Masterpiece!




PRIZES:

Since I am but a lowly artist I can't provide great riches (sadly Black Ra is not contributing any treasure to this contest).
What I can do is draw you a picture and give some DeviantART subscriptions and features in my journal. That being said here is the low down...
