Poetry Competition 9

Well the 8th poetry competition is over and the results are out, so its time for something new. I know a lot of people are doing Hallowe’en themed contests but I don't want to be quite so predictable, so instead, heres a little education...

All Saints' Day is celebrated just after Hallowe'en, on November 1st, followed by All Soul's Day on November 2nd.. It is also known as All Hallows Day (comes after All Hallows Eve, you followin' me?) All Saints' Day is the feast that commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in heaven, while the next day, All Souls' Day, commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been purified and reached heaven.

This ties in with the origins of Hallowe'en - the evening of which the Gaels believed the border between the living and the dead was the thinnest, and the dead could cause the living harm, in sickness or in harvest (pumpkins anyone?)...

So instead of something trite and drearily obvious and orange hallowe'eny style - my contest for this month is about All Saints, and All Souls day...

I want you to write about death, and the dead. It can tie into hallowe'en as much or as little as you like but I'll warn you I am looking for some genuine and honest emotion here, Hallowe'en is a holiday - not an emotion, and it has been done.

Rules
(+) Visual poetry will be accepted this month!
(+) Judges will be eligible to win again, but not allowed to cast any vote on their own piece.
(+) Your entry must be sent in a note to me (*Flutterings)
(+) All languages welcome but you must provide an english translation so we can study the meaning behind the words as well as the composition and words.
(+) You must link to this page or *Flutterings in the artists comments!
(+) There is no age restriction on this competition
(+) We must have received your entry by the time the deadline closes on 2nd of November
(+) Prose will not be accepted
(+) One entry per person
(+) The entry must be new. Therefore posted after 6th of October
(+) Important - the deadline is in GMT!
(+) The judges will not comment on your work until the competition closes (for fairness sake).
(+) We reserve the right to edit this information, including the rules, up to the date of 30th of October

How To Enter
(+) Write a new poem.
(+) Submit it to DeviantART (in the right category please!)
(+) Link to the competition in the Artists Comments
(+) Copy the address URL
(+) Send a note to *Flutterings with the link in it. (DO NOT reply to this article with your entries in case they get missed, only reply with comments and questions etc)
(+) She will post a comment on your deviation saying 'Thanks for entering'. Once you have recieved that comment you are entered in the competition. (Please do not worry if it takes a few days to get this confirmation)
