Here's a note from admin `Phoenix-22

Welcome back everyone at *Apophysis!

We are finally back from our mini-vacation and we are ready to have the group back going again at 100%. Although the original message said we would be back at the end of September, we realized that many things needed to be done with the group, and unfortunately, we also found out that three of our admins would not be able to return after the vacation.

I'd like to wish the best to our retired staff, `Nestalgica, `Halcyon83, and =TwilightAmbiance, who all realized that real-life plans would take up most of their time and they didn't want to stay in a position that they couldn't fulfill. All three were a very big part of the group and it is sad to see them leave on the heels of two other admins, `rubikscubefreak and `Platinus.

We appreciate all the hard work they put into the group and personally, I found working with all three a memorable experience. Max actually initiated the whole process of finding new admins and bringing the group back to life all the way back in November and December of 2006. Tom managed the gallery submissions on his own for the last couple of months better than I had seen from anyone, including myself when I was doing them. Dennis, like the previous two, also took the chat room events under his wing and organized some great live tutorials and fun speed fractalism sessions. All three of you will be missed and again, we thank you for volunteering your time to help with the group.

With most of the group gone, we knew that new admins were needed, and luckily, a few of you offered to help.

We'd like to welcome our three new admins to the group: =pantherwitch4982, =ba8y6irl, and =CoRayBee!

=pantherwitch4982 will be helping `cmptrwhz with the membership upkeep, along with anything else that may come up. It isn't a strict position with one thing to do all the time, but with so many different things we have planned, she will certainly be able to keep busy, and fill in for an admin if they need a break or will miss an event.

=ba8y6irl will be taking over `rubikscubefreak's spot as the Weekly Theme Challenge admin and `Halcyon83's spot as Gallery Submissions Director. I enjoyed doing the WTC's for a little while, but I thought the community really needs someone who can bring creativity and new ideas to the WTC. Also, she will be handling the gallery submissions, and we definitely appreciate her willingness to take on both admin spots.

=CoRayBee will be doing the chat room events over at *Apophysis. It's a tall order after =TwilightAmbiance's departure, but we are hoping that more chat room events and revised chat room rules will bring back the fun and busy days of the Apophysis chat room.


We have a lot of things planned for the group and I'd like to highlight just a few of them:

-Gallery submissions will be going the way of collections.

Like many groups, we will be adopting the collections style of gallery, so that the artists themselves will be guaranteed more views and 's on their pieces. We've been doing a few in this format, but we are working on a new submissions policy that will clear up any confusion.

-More chat room events.

The *Apophysis chat room is a big part of the group and lately, we've been noticing a decrease in not just events, but also a lack of people in general. We're hoping that more Live Tutorial Sessions, Speed Fractalism Sessions, and other chat room events, to go along with a revised list of rules, will help bring more people into the Apophysis chat room, and have it be a lively place again.

-More news and journal features.

Everyone seems to enjoy the Apoholics Anonymous, so we will be looking to have them on a regular basis. Also, we may also be doing some journal features for both Apophysis fractals and Apophysis resources in the near future, so be on the lookout for those!

Again, those are just a few of the things planned, and we hope you enjoy the changes we have made and will be making in the coming weeks.

*grinagog is always on the leading edge of styles and techniques. Here Nick shows his mastery of Apo's new Xaos tab (although he claims in the description he doesn't know what he did, you know for sure he figured it out based on his next few pieces. ) I find this piece to be perfectly titled; wonderful flame shapes leap out from cool colors that seem to be spreading in order to freeze them in place. Exotic, mesmerizing work!
