Day of the Dead - an Anime and Vector gallery collab contest!

Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition known for its many unique festivities and decorations. Despite the name, Day of the Dead lasts from October 31 to November 2, and is a fun remembrance of ancestors and loved ones. Bright decorations like skulls and marigolds are everywhere, and there's lots of food, dance and celebration. Need to know more? This is a contest for both the Anime and Vector gallery to come together to create some great works of art based on a theme of Day of the Dead. We know not every anime artist can vector, and not every vector artist does anime. So now is your chance to meet new artists and team up!

Here are the rules of this contest:
Art must be 100% original creations. No using existing, copyrighted characters! Tracing of copyrighted art will NOT be accepted! Artwork should specifically be created for this contest. Only one entry per deviant.
Using stock imagery is allowed per dA's standards (i.e. all references must be cited/credited properly).
Works must be 100% vector done in a program such as Illustrator, Flash, or Inkscape. Once you bring raster images into a vector, it is no longer a vector, remember that!
Works should incorporate the anime style and Day of the Dead themes.
Collaborations are not necessary for this contest, but are encouraged. Don't know an anime or vector artist, and are interested in participating? Check out this forum: [link] Post away, and meet up with some great artists!
You can have as many partners as you like to create your piece, but the prizes will be split amongst your group. It's only necessary to upload the piece once to the contest gallery - just make sure to include all the usernames in the description!
Contest will be judged by the gallery mods of Anime and Vector (^lemontea, ^Ikue, ^Damaged927 and ^azarath). We're not just looking for technical skill, but more of the interpretation of the theme and creativity.

Deadline for the contest is Monday, November 30, 2008, at 11:59PM PST. Please do not ask for extensions on this deadline.
