Space travel is an old dream of mankind. First ideas of this came of course from artists. There are storys about spaceflight in ancient Greek and even older texts from India. But it did stay a dream for centuries.

During the 19th century progress and technology made more and more old dreams possible so writers like Jules Verne and H.G. Wells wrote books about space travel. Thes books, of couse illustrated by talented artists, inspired engineers in America, Europe and even also Russia to start working on this goal.

Now we are in Space Age for more then 66 years. The first manmade objects passing the Karman line (100km above ground) and entering space where German V2 rockets in 1942. And the same people who created these infamous weapons also build decades later the Saturn V Rockets which lifted Apollo Spacecrafts and made manned missions to the moon possible.
Spaceflight became a business and every day we use the benefits of space exploration. (weather forecast, gps, satellite tv, etc.)

However, space is still huge and we did not make much more then to poke our nose into it.
