Dollmaker Dolls Do NOT Belong On DeviantArt

=ElvenCrystaline:iconElvenCrystaline: reports, November 6, 2008
It has come to my attention that the Dolling category in DeviantArt is under attack. Not viciously by spammers and such but by another type of attack, ignorance. Lately there have been a large number of submissions to the category that most certainly do not belong there, mainly dolls that were made by the use of drag-and-drop dollmakers. So, my question is, why are we letting them slip by the cracks and not doing something about it? Reporting a deviation of mis-categorizing is obviously not enough if the deviant does not know why it was removed in the first place. They should be well informed of FAQ #502 and understand their error so it wouldn't happen again. And if they object to it, then tough. Rules are rules and they're there for a good reason.
It may not be stealing art but it's still NOT your OWN. It doesn't matter even if you edit a small piece of it, you didn't make it from the base up. I'm tired of seeing the category cluttered with dolls that had been whipped up by dollmakers in 2 minutes flat. If you seriously want to show off your creation, then abide by the rules and put them in your Scraps. I would rather see shadeless dolls by beginners than 'nice' dolls created by dollmakers in the dolling category.

So I dare those of you who agree with me to :+fav: this stamp and stand up for the dolling community! We need everyone's support!

FAQ #502: Can I submit 'Dolls' or 'Characters' which I made on certain websites?

It will only be a short time...when I was looking after the doll gallery, I was keeping them under control.

It won't take the new Doll Gallery Mod very long to sort them...

I feel a bit sorry for whoever takes over though, they have a lot of deviations to sort through, lol. I felt that this could help them a bit though by spreading the word about such a FAQ beforehand.

No the Doll Gallery is an easy Gallery to administer, I know as I did it for a year, I could tidy it in about half an hour to an hour a day. The joy of these as miscats is they are quick and easy to identify and can be scrapped which is a one click job..unlike other things that need to be inspected and having to read artist comments and then a more appropriate gallery to choose and then the move and then occasionally having to substantiate the move with the artist, all of this takes a lot of time per item...those are the hard ones...the dollmakers are easy! The problem is the people who upload those pieces tend to be new arrivals who don't know the rules, so they probably don't even know about newsarticles....however, rest assured, help is on its way! :)

wow people still do that stuff lol that's so...middle school. If you make your own dolls with your own programs that's great, but copying and pasting...that's almost as bad as people that just put up movie stills
