what did the judges have to say?^
Katerina423: "The perfect embodiment of autism. That electrical storm. Autism is such a difficult and misunderstood illness and this helps the viewer gain a tangible grasp on what it must be like. That electrical storm. It's wonderful."
*
killjoy: "i'm not given to enjoying fractals, but this is a dead-on representation of the autism spectrum, it's ordered chaos, and for most people with autism, there's a structure to it, something they do with a rigid order or pattern, but the pure chaos in the mind that creates this outward order is pure noise. i've to give this due credit, its just smart thinking to use a fractal."
$
Moonbeam13: "I love this because it electrically displays the way the brain messages through this disorder. Using a fractal was brilliant in achieving the message."

what did the judges have to say?*
killjoy: "the one time they gave me morphine, and a close friend's severe addiction to it in the past, i related to this and actually thought of morphine simply reading the title under the image; a venomous spider, morphine/opiate addiction gets under your skin, the sheer mention of the drug brings about a skin crawl and a desire to do the drug because it feels so damned good. i cannot imagine a drug having a faster, or stronger addiction ability than this, and the struggle for anyone who's been exposed to enough to feel that pull to use it again understands how this poison gets under your skin."

what did the judges have to say?^
Katerina423 ""This is my #1 choice without question. The poem perfectly embodies what SAD really is and the struggle of this woman's life. Having been diagnosed with this myself, I should be completely knowledgeable of this illness but I was actually frightened to read the diagnostic criteria she included in the description. I didn't realize that I could check off every single one. Her story touched me immensely because I realize how dangerously close I am to her situation. Aside from the personal factor, what struck me most impressive is how well she communicates the severity of the illness. A lot of people misunderstand and misuse this disorder. It's not just being "shy" and nervous around people. That's like saying that being depressed is just being "sad". I think she gets that message across very well."

Congratulations to all of the entries, it's inspiring to see so many people expressing themselves and their chosen causes through art. I will probably be spending much of my weekend looking at these entries and learning more about each of them.
