Do you really judge before you gave it a chance,

~kappalizzy:iconkappalizzy: reports, November 15, 2008
I thought about this for a while & I decided that it's finally time to post it. Is there a show out there that makes you just hate it without giving a real reason?

The show I am talking about in my life is, Kappa Mikey. This animated television series was created by Animation Collective in New York and currently airs on Nicktoons Network. This show is not an anime nor can I say it's a cartoon. It's actually an "Ani-toon"- if you liked the Cartoon Network series, Teen Titans, or maybe my Life as a Teenage Robot, Mega XLR then you know what I am talking about.

For those of you who don't, basically an anitoon has anime style references but is usually made by an American company.

I for one love Kappa Mikey. Why? No it's not because it was voiced by voice-actor Michael Sinterniklaas who voices Dean Venture on Venture Brothers for an example. But because I love cartoons in general. I am a bigger, more loyal fan to Nickelodeon then Disney.

I am also an anime fan. Kappa Mikey combined the best of both worlds; anime & cartoons. How can anyone really say I hate this show?

Some say it's because of the Flash style. Of course when people usually say that, they have more of an attitude and other words are coming out of their mouth.

Others say, "It's an insult to anime!" I like to know where it says, it's illegal to air cartoons like Kappa Mikey, Teen Titans, etc. Last I checked anime does not rule the world but it's clear anime fans have become very obsessed and very, very selfish. They refuse to give anything else a chance unless it comes directly from Japan & is drawn by a Japanese person.

Well I guess that means pizza is not really pizza in America unless we import it from Italy, or imported Asian food from it's respected countries. Right?

Either way, I feel the insults to Kappa Mikey are ridiculous. People don't want to give this show a fair chance because they don't want to try. The just find it easier to insult and give an excuse.

I'd like for anyone who reads this to watch a total of at least 5 episodes. I don't care if you have Nicktoon Network or not. Go to Youtube and watch some, download them from Itunes, buy the DVD that contains a few episodes at amazon.com,etc whatever. Watch this show, give it a moment of your time then say what you truly feel about the show.

Thanks for reading!

-Kappa Lizzy, still Kappa Mikey's cheerleader. Always was & always will be

wow. good point there, girl. I for one love Kappa Mikey. it's funny, and it's different. it's way better than Jimmy Neutron, Ben 10, and Speed Racer, and Life and Time of Juniper Lee. all those shows I mentions are pretty lame to me. and yes, I watched them, and to me in general, I don't find any of them appealing.

but yeah, some people just don't like the shows because of one certain detial. like a lot of people hate iCarly cause they thinks it's a whole like Hannah Montana. which it's not. and people hate Hannah Montana, because they hate Miley Cyrus. pretty stupid reasons if you ask me. I read it all the time on youtube. and all I hear is the same crap: this sucks! no good reason, just that it sucks.

And mainly the thing that ticks people off about Teen Titans, Totally Spies, and Code Lyoko and whatnot is when it's referred to as "anime" when truly it's not. It imitates it, but cannot truly be called anime. ^^; That's the only problem I've personally encountered regarding those shows.

well that doesn't offend me cause you nor trash talking it, or attempting to leep ot from airing or attempting to keep a panel from happening at an anime convention.

I don't like it because I think it is a dumb show, with very little humour. But that's just my personal taste.
Also, you know that "anime" is the Japanese word for "animation" and that Japanese cartoons are, in fact, cartoons, yes?

You lost the game. :]
:icontabikat:
Actually, Avatar was anime-stylized yet it was made by an American company. Avatar was also very well animated, drawn, written, and researched and I have a lot of respect for those guys. I'll be fair, I'm not going to say its an insult to anime or any genre in that respective, what I don't like about Kappa Mikey is that its poorly drawn and animated as a cartoon in itself. I miss the older cartoons that had more work put into them instead of throwing something in flash and just because its making fun or whatever its doing to japanese cartoons or culture, then its a-okay. There are amazing animators right here on Deviantart that I would love to see aired on tv who have the art talent and education.

I just find it disappointing that this is what's considered "quality" cartoons on tv these days.

God sees everything but can he see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
:iconemgib:
kappa mikey is like a low budget student movie. if you ignore some things, like the poor animation and drawing, you can actually enjoy it on a different level--satire, etc..
