In response to the general consensus of both the need and curiosity for at least some sort of guidance as to how one could get started with traditional mediums, the Community Relations' Traditional Team is proud to present... Project TradSavvy.
As the quote or rather tag line very clearly demonstrates in the stamp above, this will not be a collection of how-to tutorials. The aim is to show all who are interested what sort of tools, gadgets, and items of wizardry are available on the market for a myriad of respective mediums.
The articles hereafter will each highlight a different medium, and for every article/medium, there will be a guest deviant invited to share a concise yet substantial guidance in regards to what could be obtained in order to get started with a specific medium. There will be point-form comparisons between each spectrum of a product, the pros and cons of using a low-end student product and a custom-made medium.
Of course, one has to bear in mind that these will merely be guides - what doesn't work for one artist may pose quite the contrary for another. Which brings us to the foreword of this project...The only thing that serves as a stump when it comes to traditional medium... is the will to act. Just put on your best shoes and dance!
... the aim of this project, is to show you what kinds of shoes there are out there. In the end you will have to take the plunge.
Remember...
1. Get the medium, and just do it. It's all about constant trial and error. Every single piece is a new learning process, for as long as we wish to make art.
2. One simply has to come to terms with the fact... that it's going to take a very long time, longer than one will ever expect, before one can even get close to what they wish to achieve. However with every challenge comes the joy of self-betterment.
3. There is only one rule... there are no rules. Your imagination is your only hindrance. ANYTHING can be used a means for artistic expression... just have to pluck the courage, and do it.Your mind is the true master, not your hands, which can be tamed.
We hope you'll enjoy the ride![]()
