My attempt at bringing the issues of policy violations to the attention of deviantART and a potential solution to the problem I hope they will consider for the sake of deviantART as a whole.

Respecting Daily Deviations

~Pentacle5:iconPentacle5: reports, 2d 11h ago
I've been noticing for a long time a serious lack of respect in the deviantART community towards those who have been awarded daily deviations. I'm not talking about constructive criticism; I'm talking about utter disrespect for the artist from saying that the piece featured did not deserve the daily deviation to declaring that the model depicted is too thin or too fat to claiming the content of the art is wrong based on someone's narrow opinion. Enough is enough.

Baby P - Horrors of reality

~AnorakBlue:iconAnorakBlue: reports, November 16, 2008
I don't believe many of you would have heard about Baby P. I don't expect anyone outside of England to have heard about his ordeal, and some of my friends haven't heard about, or have but don't know much about it.

This is why I'm writing this article, to let people world wide see what is happening in the world. Views in this article may be biased, but I doubt that many people will say 'yeah but' to the majority. My sensibility may also die near the end, since I have to get facts from four newspapers, so I may get a little, or a lot, upset. My step-dad couldn't even read the full story in one paper.

Baby P was a 17 month old baby boy who was literally tortured to death, it's unclear who actually killed him, but the damage was done by his step-dad mainly. Facts may be missing, I'm sorry if they are, but one of the papers which had a lot of detail on has been binned.

People Responsible
The step-father - who has not been named - was a satanist and sadist, he worshipped Hitler and possessed Nazi artifacts.
Lodger - Jason Owens, 36 - a sex offender who had been having a relationship with a 15 year old girl and did nothing about it.
Mother - Unnamed again - spent more time flirting with men online men on Bebo with the name 'Need-Choc-Got-PMT' and watching hardcore porn. Baby P's father left her after she had two affairs when Baby P was only 3 months old. She had four children, none of them had care given to them by her, yet she bragged that online that one of her favourite things was being a mum.
Teenager - unnamed - A source to some of the Baby P information, she lived with the family at the time of it happening, never phoning the police about it, going into the garden when something bad happened to the baby. It took her 8 months to speak out about it.
Doctor - Sabah al-Zayyat - Performed an examination on Baby P days before his death, yet failed to notice 8 broken ribs and a broken spine saying she couldn't perform a proper examination because he was cranky . She faces a disiplinary hearing, yet can continue treating patients.
Social Services Head - Sharon Shoesmith - Was warned three years previously about her shoddy staff and how they were endangering children, but refused an investigation into her people, finally saying that she would investigate them. Refusing to take the child away from the family, even after over 60 visits in 7 months. Despite the conditions it lived in. After all this she refuses to apologise and people are 'shocked' that she hasn't resigned .
Social Worker - Maria Ward - wracked with guilt over this she feels suicidal, but constantly fell for the lies told by Baby P's mother, who said it was other children or he was just accident prone. Saying that the baby was 'well' four days before he died.
Councillor of Child Protection Register - Gillie Christou - Approved the return of Baby P to his parents.

Now I really will start to get upset, I'm sorry. The following text will be full of the horrific actions that the step-father performed to the baby. You may find it disturbing and distressing, I know I did.

Back-breaking - Whilst watching Jeremy Kyle, the step-father sat with Baby P across his knees, smirking, smoking cannabis, playing with him like a mere rag doll. Then there was a huge crack as he broke Baby P's spine.
Suffocation - The step-dad used to take his thumb and press it down hard onto Baby P's windpipe until he turned blue and stopped breathing, took his finger off laughing, then did it again harder to find the babys limit.
Fingers - He sliced off the top of Baby P's fingers to make it easier for what he was to do next, because he took up a pair of pliers and ripped off Baby P's fingernails.
Drop - The step-dad was 6ft tall, he used to take Baby P, hold him above his head, and drop him onto the floor.
Biting - The step-father used to bite at Baby P, so that his Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Rottweiler would do the same.
Genitals - He used to take up a shoe and smack him between the legs with it.
Bed-time - No bed-time story, instead he was literally thrown into the cot, and to make things worse, he was wrapped up tightly in blankets for hours on end to dehydrate him.
Nappies - The step-father, when he moved in, banned everyone from going into Baby P's room or to change his nappies. The mum even had to ask permission to feed him. His nappy remained unchanged for such a long period of time that his bottom ended up blistered and covered in sores, literally rotting.
Psychological - Baby P had been beaten so much and was subjected to such an ordeal that if his step-father even snapped his fingers, Baby P had his head on the floor in fear.
Finale - Baby P was crying the night of his death, so his step-dad went in to silence him. And he did. He had punched the baby's face that one of his bottom teeth fell out and he ended up swallowing it. He was found dead the next morning - but 999 was only dialled at 11:30am.

The mother bragged to her friends and family that she would be 'out by Christmas' and only shed tears in the courtroom when she was told that she would recieve a hefty prison sentence.

But what for? None of them are getting murder - since they can't proof who killed him. For 'allowing the death of'.

Personally, I think 'Allowing the death of' would be manslaughter, where it was intended. But in the end, I believe that the step-dad intended on the baby dying.

This next statement is taken straight from th Sun newspaper: '"The social worker didn't spot a thing. The mum couldn't believe her luck when she just had a quick look at P in his buggy and said, 'Hello little fella!' That was it. He was pushed into the kitched. Door slammed shut. That was the last time he was seen alive by anyone outside the house.
"The heartbreaking thing is baby P smiled at the woman. Sitting in that buggy with his back broken, eight broken ribs, fingernails missing, toe-nail mising and a nappy full of excretment and he still managed a smile.
"If she had just taken a second to look properly, to pick him up and look at him, she'd have realised there was something gravely wrong.
"All the social worker said before she left the house was, 'If you're taking him out later, make sure you wash his face.' It's a disgrace."' .

Everyone in England needs to buy a copy of the Sun - for they're having a petition where - if enough people sign and send it in - they will get/work to get the people who allowed this to happen sacked.

I think it's plain awful, he died in August 2007, but it hasn't been publicised to extremes until now due to legal reasons. I want everyone to write about this in their journals or to link back, because the world needs to know the horrible things that are happening in the world. Sad thing is - if this is happening to one baby, chances are it's happening to another somewhere else in the world. Maybe even something worse.

What's worse? Lately there's been more.

A mother kid-napped her own daughter so that her and a loner could recieve a 50k reward for 'rescuing' her.
Another mother shot her two young children.

If you have anything else to say, any other horrors, make it known. Shout it out. Please... we may not been able to stop it happening, but we can try to prevent it, make people more aware, and make effects worse.

I know.. sad thing is, its probably happening to another little child.
:iconcelematy:
Exactly.
The problem is, that some people just don't care. They think that babies aren't humans. That they're stupid little toys to be thrown about. A liability.

:iconanorakblue:
Yeah, I have a 2 year old brother, so thinking that someone could harm someone that young that badly... it's just sickening, he even looks like my little brother... I had to read 4 newspapers to get some information, its garbled because half way through I started crying...
:iconanorakblue:
I know, I mean, Scott annoys me to no end! But I can't even harm a baby in /fiction/ ... so how someone can actually harm them to that extent...

sick...
:iconcelematy:
Yeah. I know what you mean.

Its really sick, and the worst part is that its happening EVERYWHERE.

So, what are they going to do to stop it?

:iconanorakblue:
Heh, we can't stop it, but we can at least try to, and make people... in a way... more paranoid about it... so people dont get away with it as easily.
:iconcelematy:
Yeah...
But, there are still people who are going to do it.
Because, they're complete idiots.
