A few words of advice for new models:

=photoswithattitude:iconphotoswithattitude: reports, 1d 14h ago
I get many questions asked by new models what is TFP? Why do I have to sign a release form, or what do you mean by "Implied Nude"?

So I thought the simplest way to explain it all is to write an article....

Interview : Tjasa

*Sortvind:iconSortvind: reports, November 22, 2008
A well known flower and macro photographer here on deviantart, her images really speak for themselves.
She invites us into magical and calm surroundings, where she shows just how Zen everyday objects and flowers can be when seen with her eyes.
It is with great pleasure I give you an insight into the mind of Tjasa

First of all, thank you for taking the time. So, what got you started with photography, and how long have you been doing it?

My pleasure, thank you for asking me. I guess as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by photography, but more so other people's photography than mine. It wasn't until I got my first DSLR in 2006 that I got more seriously interested in it.

You seem to approach each subject with such care and nothing seems random and misplaced. How do you plan your shots/set them up?

When it comes to photography, I'm definitely not a planner. All my nature shots happen spontaneously. I'd say it's all about catching the light - that's what photography to me is primarily about. I only shoot in natural light (without a tripod either), and play with the depth of field and focus.

Is photography your job/main income or a hobby on the side?

For the time being it represents a part of my income and it's definitely much more than a hobby. I do hope it becomes my "job" in the near future.

what is your goal with photography/what kind of feelings do you want to express through art?

I guess I could sum up my photography with the Japanese aesthetic concept of wabi-sabi that "nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect."
Photography serves as the perfect medium to visualize this philosophy. I try to capture the transience that surrounds us everywhere. The motifs you find in the nature are simply inexhaustible, they change with every passing season, day, moment, and that is what I'd like to show through my photos - the ever changing world around us.

What kind of camera aka equipment do you use?

I use a Canon 350D + a couple of prime lenses (50mm F1.4, Lensbaby 2.0), on rare occasions I also use an analog Nikon F65 and a Polaroid 600.

What do you use/how is your post processing process?

I always try to keep things simple and minimalistic and the same applies to post processing as well. I do like Photoshop but I never spend more than a few minutes on a single photo. I shoot jpg., usually create two layers and then adjust some levels and color balance.

Last of all, do you want to share some thumbs from other peoples work that inspire you?

There are so many talented and wonderful artists that inspire me whenever I browse through dA and my watchlist, it is impossible to include them all, so
here is a few of them

Thank you so much for sharing the information and giving us a view into your artistic perspective.

My special favourite from her gallery:
