Every December 1st is a very important day to me, but it might also be a very important day to many others in the world because it is World Aids Day. This Monday marks the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day. The concept of World AIDS Day originated at the 1988 World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programs for AIDS Prevention. Since then, it has been taken up by governments, international organizations and charities around the world. This day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.
The Red Ribbon is the worldwide symbol of supporting people living with HIV.
I celebrate my birthday on December 1st and I am so grateful to share it with such an important tribute to the world's people. Each day I wake up and thank god for my healthy life, but did we ever stop to think about the people that wake up every day asking why this has happened to them? I feel so helpless sometimes ...because there isn't much more I can do but believe that one day there will be a cure for our Cancer's, AIDS, Heart Disease, and more. We just have to remain hopeful.
Please, if anyone you know anyone that suffers from AIDS or maybe you would like to just know more about AIDS...have a look the sites listed below:

I've done research for UNAIDS, the aids foundation of the United Nations, about interventions across the world, and it chilled me to the bone. Millions and millions of people suffering from it. Lack of education, lack of power, lack of interest.. (barebacking).
I am glad science is progressing, if ever so slowly, and knowledge and care is spreading.
