For our third installment, I thought it'd be nice to present you with this very talented Artist. Very thought provoking, her Surreal works are bound to shoot her right to the top.


Tell us a little bit about what you do.

I am a chemist and work as a laboratory assistant. At the moment I’m looking after my little son. But I consider to start work as a graphic designer.




What got you started in Photomanipulation?

I'm not too good in traditional painting. Some time ago I saw George Grie’s work and I wanted to do something like that. He is a great artist. Then I decided to study Photoshop. Photomanipulation is my way to express my aspiration for the art.


Do you have any links, or inspirations, you could share?

In fact, the feelings when I watch an interesting picture always inspire me. Here in dA I found out a great number of wonderful artists and I learnt a lot.




Do you take on Commissions?

No, I don't. It takes me much time to do one piece. Sometimes two weeks or even three weeks. Sometimes I don’t like the result and have to start from the beginning.


If you could point us in the direction of some great Photomanipulators here at dA, who would you suggest?

There are many artists that I like very much. Some of them are ~cezarius, *kubicki, ~vimark, `dreamspeak, *pepexx


What style of Manips would you say is probably the easiest to begin learning with?

I don’t know. I suppose it’s specific for everyone.


What's the funniest, or craziest, thing that's ever happened to you while creating?

I think the best effects are a result of some stupid mistakes.


How long have you been doing this?

I started with Photoshop nine months ago. At first I only read books and many, many tutorials. Seven months ago I did my first manipulation (Waterfall).




Any important tips or tricks you could tell us about?

1. You can put two, three or more images together and change Blending Mode and Opacity of each layer. For example in my last work Warning Bell the ground is from six stocks and the Blending Mode of each is different (Darken, Overlay, Soft Light, etc). It gives interesting results.

2. I don’t like a picture of beautiful woman with wrinkled dress. You can use the filter Surface Blur on the dress. Of course you must cut and copy it in a separate layer. Wonderful results. I use it in my work The Sorceress.

3. Try again, and again, and never give up.




What are your favorite tools or programs to use?

I work with Photoshop CS2.
