Welcome welcome to the ninth edition of the Forum Newsletter! Seeing as how we took over from ~mangachu and `conorschild later in the year, this ninth issue is the last Forum Newsletter of 2008! And what better way to send you off than with voting time for the Forum Awards Gala?

The Forum News

The Forum Newsletter Awards GALA!

It's finally here, the largely anticipated FORUM NEWSLETTER AWARDS GALA Voting Session! Now the choices are narrowed down and you get to pick from who was nominated the most throughout the month of November.

Named by the internet dictionary's definition of "gala": A gay festivity, the Forum Newsletter Awards Gala is to be an annual award gala, with winners chosen by the forumers, in which we vote for the best of the best of the past year!

We're at the second step: Voting. All nominations were accounted for, and those with the most nominations and most suiting of the title (ex: following guidelines given in The Forum Newsletter Issue 8) have made it to the second stage. The usernames in each category have been sorted from most nominations to least, though ALL listed had more than two nominations in order to qualify.

You have five to choose from in each category, and one vote for each category.

You have until December 30th to nominate users. Then, the votes will be tallied and in the first Newsletter of the New Year, the winners announced and prizes handed out.

(and the newlywed man seen above!), revealed in a journal that he's been hiding out as , not quite a troll, but a trollish and obviously joke account just based on the username pwnbot2000. It should be noted =zaiger420 is doing a fine ol' job of cleaning up Encyclopedia Dramatica's DeviantART section. Word is, Zaiger is in charge of the DeviantART portal. His work is wonderous.

Mod Modifications

`nokari violated a secret MN@ code we aren't allowed to know, rendering him simply senior once again ([link]). $Tachy-on, on the other hand, has picked new MN@s. "Please help me in welcoming @diamond281, @Vayde, and @lenawargo to the MN@ Volunteer Team." He also made a thread about joining the team here. @summaro should be noted as one of our dear old regulars bumped up with a little @ sign, and ^Thebuild who was recently featured for his sculptures, is now GD of the Sculpture galleries. Congrats to them both!

Bans & Suspensions

!kombat-unit, the last of our most notable Nazi members since !nihilSS's ban, has gone to join her. Sources say !kombat-unit said himself that the reason for banning was ban evasion, striking everyone as odd. Luckily, no one seems to up in arms over this one and we wont be faced with hysteria and drama... Yet.

!LadyHisoka was famous for many a bad reasons, such as claiming to be roommates with !DivineAngel, while in reality it was too obvious the two were the same. Supposedly the comment chain found here [link] is the reason for the ban. This ban here can only lead to...

!DivineAngel's ban has been long-awaited, and likely struck up by !LadyHisoka's ban. It counts as ban-evasion, even the staff doesn't believe the "roommates" story.

!nihilSS's avatar trend can only now be rivaled with the quickly growing shaking avatar trend. Compared to most memes it's a step up, seeing as how effort must actually go into creating the 'tar. Of course, like most memes... It's still just a meme.

Interview!

bohobella's interview with @summaro

Just down by the ComplainTavern is @summaro's Bistro. It was once popular amongst the youth of deviantART's forums too young for drinking, but after @summaro gained a lovely little @, less and less showed in in fear of his red padlock power. Mostly a result of only n00bs hanging out there, and drunks who got kicked out of the Tavern for picking fights with =PaulStrealer. Nevertheless, I needed to eat and found myself there, being served by none other than @summaro.

"I've been here a looooooong time. I've been in and out of the forums since before it was threaded. I've seen waves of regulars come and go, several times. I've been both types of forumer, the asshole who borders on being a troll, and the nice friendly helpful person. I frequent a lot of the forums, and I generally know and understand the culture of each forum." @summaro said as he tossed some taters on my plate. Oh no, the old man was rambling again.

"So that's why you're MN@ worthy?" I inquired.

"Plus, I work a desk job constantly hooked up to the internet, and am available almost all the time to do my thing."

"How have people been responding to you're becoming an MN@?" I asked, now growing curious of what the old senior had to say.

"I've had mostly positive response from forum regulars, and mostly negative response from newbies. In my short time on the MN@ team, I've had upset comments on my userpage, a thread about me in the Complaints forum-

@summaro cut off to glare at ~WatermelonBread, "I'm looking at you, ~WatermelonBread! ...And even a personally insulting journal written about me. It's all great fun."

"Have you crushed any of your forumer friends with your almighty new power?" I asked, though judging by ~WatermelonBread's little regard to @summaro's outburst, there wasn't much fear.

"No, not yet," @summaro giggled. "But being a friend wouldn't stop me from locking a thread if it needed locking. I know that most forumers do not take a lock personally."

"Recall any particularly lulzy threads you've locked?"

"Just one linking to a Lulu book about cooking with semen. I copped a bit of flak from the Complaints regulars about that one, but I stand by my decision. The large majority of locked threads are misplaced posts from newer members, and it's always going to happen no matter how well you write the forum descriptions, so you just gently nudge them in the right direction."

What happy memories!

"Got any lulzy comments in return about the new power?" I wondered.

"Apart from the aforementioned journal, not really. Most people leaving comments have been really cool and positive, and the few negative responses have been your stock standard stuff, angry recriminations and insults on my verillity and manhood - nothing hilarious, yet. I try not to get into it with these people."

I could hear `VernonX9000 behind me in line. He must have been kicked out of the tavern. He was rambling about several topics all slurred into one, including but not limited to his days as an MN@, "the good old days" and being married.

"Have you ever pulled a Vernon and locked a thread, only to unlock it after?"

@summaro laughed. "Haha, I've only done that in one of `VernonX9000's threads!"

I hadn't stopped to think I was holding up a line up. But, even if a line up only includes myself and `VernonX9000, it's still a line up, and I was still wasting SOMEONE'S time. And as any good Complaints regular, I should have known better, being exposed to annoying little things people hate the most so often in dead horse threads.

"Look Bohob," `VernonX9000 frowned, "Buy @summaro's special of the day or GTFO."

I looked up to the SPECIAL OF THE DAY sign, wondering if it could go good with my taters.
