""Once upon a time there was a fresh water mermaid...
They were always quite beautiful and ,usually, quite evil...
One day, the mermaid, tricked a man into trading his only son for wealth and happiness....
The man refused to give his son to her, instead, he warned his son to stay away from the mill pond where she lived...
One day, when the son had grown up and married, he was hunting near the pond...
He killed a deer and forgot where he was... so washed his hands in the water. Immediately, the mermaid grabed him and pulled him underwater...
That night his wife wondered what had happened to him... Knowing the mermaid story she visited the pond and found his knife there...
She cried by the pond for days but he did not reappear...
Few nights after, in a dream, a wise and old woman invited her to her house... Awakening, she found the old woman's house who gave her a gold comb... She told her to sit by the pond combing her hair for a time and then to lay the comb near the water...
The young woman returned to the pond and combed her hair...
She layed the comb near the water and a small wave washed it away. For a second she saw her husband's head...
She went back to the wise woman's house and told her what had happened. After that the wise woman gave her more golden items, telling her to use each one by the pond and then leave it by the water...
Each time she did she saw more of her husband's body. Finally, her husband was thrown up into the air by a water spout and was able to jump onto the shore...The mermaid turned mad and she made the waters in the pond rise and chase the pair through the woods...
But the wise old woman turned them into frogs, and in that form they survived the flood. However, they were separated by the waters and did not find each other again for many many years...""
