How to Commission an Artist

*ArynChris:iconArynChris: reports, November 16
A comprehensive guide to commissioning, based on my personal experiences and observations. This guide does not address hosting contests, nor does it specifically address the unique challenges of commissioning through specific websites, though some typical scenarios are mentioned in passing. Topics include choosing the artist, why it's important to make sure you can afford it, how to contact the artist, payment, what WIPs are and why you might want to see them, and legal rights of both parties. Legal rights are discussed at the beginner level and are NOT in depth here.

Awareness For Huntington's Disease

=TheDeviantIndigo:iconTheDeviantIndigo: reports, December 2, 2008
Huntingtons Disease

You may have heard of this disease before. Maybe on the news, maybe in a paper. Maybe you never have heard about it. But let me show you and tell you a little about this, and bring some awareness to this heart breaking disease that has no cure, and slowly eats away at those you love.

My mother is a nurse, she has been for almost 40 years. A majority of her career was working in a hospital, and after she left, she moved into private care, and then into nursing homes where she works now. She takes care of many patients, their lives are in her hands. However, a lot of these patients aren't just people who cannot take care of themselves anymore, or who are blind or disabled. A lot of these patients are HD patients. They have a disease called Huntington's disease. I have been around those with it my entire life, and no matter how many times you see them, it breaks your heart every time. I have a deep passion and pray for a cure for this disease. Please. Spread the word. How you spread it is entirely up to you. Now, let me share with you some information on what Huntington's disease is, and what it does. Full article can be found on wikipedia, or on other google information links when you search for it in your toolbar.

Huntington's disease, or HD, is a genetic neurological disorder characterized after onset by uncoordinated, jerky body movements and a decline in mental abilities.

Here is a link to more information about it on wikipedia.

Now, imagine having a disease, that could strike at anytime in your life. You slowly begin to lose control over your body, and you eventually end up losing control over your mind as well. Some HD's are worse then others, and sometimes people live out full lives before even beginning to show any symptoms. Sadly, some are even affected as a young child. I do not want to get too graphic with this news article. It is not meant to scare you, so instead of me rather explain what I have witnessed over the years many of them suffer through, I shall give you the links to some videos that I beg of you to shed a few moments of your time to watch so that you may see what I have seen first hand.

Please go to this youtube channel and search for them: [link]

Or

Search for these two videos using the youtube search bar: (Direct links to the videos I could not get to work)

The Original Huntington's Disease

The Original Huntington's Disease The Sequel

As you can see, it is a very heartbreaking disease like I mentioned above. Please, all that it takes is one moment of your time. Please inform someone you know of Huntington's Disease, and please pray for a cure. Thank you for spending some of your time to read this, god bless.
