SAY WHAT NOW?
I said- “Unusual Anthro” and do you know what that means? That’s exactly what it means! Okay okay…. I’ll shed some more light on that one. You see, the majority of DeviantART’s Anthro gallery is filled with mostly animal anthros—and typically of the “furry” sort: Canines, felines, and various other animals. Animals are a great subject for anthropomorphism- which is probably why they are very popular. (and I’ll be honest with you- I do notice that canines are quite abundant on every page of the gallery). Having so much fun with our furry friends, we sometimes forget that there is much more to anthro than we see on the surface- and there are so many more possibilities this art style has. And this is where Anthro and Cartoon have come to meet face-to-face on several occasions. It’s also where our imagination will work the hardest!

So to make a long story short- when I say “unusual anthro” I’m not referring a werewolf with a hat and tie, or a Tigress shooting a bow and arrow in the jungles of India, or a Husky riding a bicycle in shorts…..and there are so many more examples- too many to mention.

“Unusual Anthro” is something unique. Something we don’t often see….something that doesn’t talk to you until you’ve given it eyes and a mouth. For instance, a Volkswagen Beetle that starts dancing and singing in the streets, Your broccoli talks back to you, a vacuum cleaner that laughs in vengeance over dust bunnies, or a Tornado who’s eyes gleam down at you like a vicious animal! – Now along with these inanimate object anthros, there are animal anthros that are rare and are also considered to be Unusual Anthro also- so don’t panic if you have trouble bringing life to a Toaster…..or your dad’s Lazyboy recliner.

SO WHAT’s THE DEAL HERE?
This is a Holiday contest- that means Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and even New Years is fair game. Think of items, traditions, artifacts, legends, religion, stories, or customs associated with the Holidays- and then anthropomorphize them in some way! Any media is welcome- even Film! We want to be able to recognize the Holiday you are showcasing!

RULES
All Entries must be submitted after December 9th 2008 and submitted to the correct category listed below in order to participate.
All entries MUST follow DeviantART’s submission policy and guidelines.
You can enter as many times as you like.
Please tell us something about your entry in the description
List any stock or references you may have used in your piece.

Be creative! This is an Unusual Anthro Contest so we will be taking creativity and uniqueness into high consideration!
before someone asks……Yes, anthro-reindeer are accepted as “Unusual Anthro”
Snowmen are NOT anthro unless they are walking and talking like Frosty the Snowman- otherwise, they are just a snow sculpture.- This also applies to Gingerbread men.
Elves and Faeries are NOT anthro…unless they are polar bears dressed up like Eleves and being Santa’s little helpers.
