Hello all, welcome to my Within the Elements: a contest on DeviantART.

For this contest you must come up with a picture dealing with the elements. The title must contain the word “within” and be either followed or in front of a word describing the element of your choice. For example: Fire Within, Chilled Within, Within Ice, etc. The drawing can be of anything as long as it has the chosen theme present and obvious. (examples: an ice dragon, a mage casting fire, a superhero/character using said element as a weapon, a planet/scene made of ice/snow, a regular animal in a winter scene, a metal encased being, a magical creature made of wood etc.) I am trying to leave the subject as open as possible in order to get your creative juices flowing. Obviously some elements are harder to portray then others, but its up to you which you want to choose from. A list of all entrants will be created in my journal after first entry is received.

The list of the 5 elements to choose from:
Wood
Fire
Earth
(including weather: wind, lightning etc)
Metal
Water
(including ice, snow etc)

Rules:
-It must be a new picture drawn especially for this contest.

-You must put a link to my page in the artists comments telling its for my contest.

-Please note me with the link to your deviation (title the note either Element Contest or Mini contest), and I will add you to the entry list that will appear below this.

-A second entry is allowed but it must be a different element then your first.

-No more then 2 entries per-person. However a 3rd piece may be entered for the mini contest.

-You may only enter the mini contest if you have already submitted a work to the first contest.

-No mature rated art.

-There is no limit on titles, ie more then one person can choose the same title.

-I will be allowing 3D renderings but they will be judged equally (to the best of my abilities) with the other art.

-Sorry no literature this time.

-No photo manipulations

-You may enter a single work that features more then one element.

1st place
-a free commissioned picture done by me (one character and a fully painted background) worth approximately $100 USD

Mini Contest

I have also decided to add a second “mini contest”. There will only be one winner for this one and said winner will receive a free 8.5x11 signed print of their choice from my gallery as well as a feature in my journal. The only catch for this one is that you have to enter the first contest before you can enter this one. Also the 1st , 2nd , and 3rd winners of the main contest will not be able to able to win the mini contest. So total there will be 4 winners to all the contests.

The topics available for the mini contest will be human elements/emotions and how well you are able to portray them. Some examples: Pain, sadness, happiness, suffering, joy etc. The title must also contain the word 'Within'.
