The inspiration for this equine art community event came from

, who was in turn inspired by a Wet Canvas post (noted at the bottom of the article). Given the dates in the original thread at the starting of the challenge, the DA version of it will have an extended deadline. This challenge starts officially on the
20th of December, 2008 and ends officially on the
30th of March, 2009 (one day added for time zones). Of course, people can start ahead of time!
The ultimate goal of the challenge, as quoted on the WC thread is, "
to make consistent ongoing work within time frame, as a motivator for improving and producing more work. "
FAQ:Q: May I submit drawings of individual equine body parts (eyes, mouth, ears, legs, bones, muscles) A: Yes!
Q: Am I allowed to count pieces that are part of another on going series?A: A picture is a picture is a picture! If you've drawn it, even if it was a commission, you are allowed to count it as part of this challenge.
Q: I want to enter, but I don't think I can get 100 horses done, is that okay?A: Of course it's okay! The point of this is that you take away improved skills and knowledge on your subject, and that you ultimately challenge yourself! Get as many as you can done!
Q: Are there any prizes for getting 100/100 done?A: Not at this time, but there
may be prizes announced at a later date. Besides, what we're really after is an improvement in understanding of horses!
What if I want to draw a horse-like creature, like a pegasus, unicorn, centaur etc.? Does that count?A: Yes, as long as there is a
strong basis in horse anatomy it counts!
Q

o sketches count?
A: Finished sketches will count, but stay true to the challenge goals!
When entering this challenge, take the time to sit and wonder what your personal goals will be. What do
you want to take away from this challenge? Do you want to develop a new inking style? Master horse expressions? Get a better foundation in equine anatomy? Feel free to mark you goals in the comments, or in your personal journal!
