Candles and Candle light

Themed Features - Volume 2



December - Holidays Season...

In this (at least for some parts of the world) darkest time of the year, I would like to present to you a themed feature on CANDLES and CANDLELIGHT.

We all know them... We call them kers - lys - kaars - bougie - kerze - gyertya - candela - vela - bujia - ljus depending on what language we speak. We lit them - sometimes, when electricity is not available - to have some light. But mainly, to create some atmosphere, during a meal with family, friends or beloved ones, and on a long but cosy winter evening... On certain occasions too, special festivities, birthdays... Sometimes for prayer, or to remember someone or something in a special way...
Candles are gentle, they bring us light and warmth, connectedness and company...

While browsing dA for some great candle-art, and afterwards, while I was preparing this journal entree and article, I found some quotes that I would like to share with you...
