10 poems I loved to read part: I

=Nielso:iconNielso: reports, December 6
Because there are so many poems submitted in one day and so many that aren't been read. I've placed some here that deserve it. I know that there are more poems that do but these are to start with. It took me a long time to read them all and sorting them out.
These are the first 10.
I'll try to do this every week/month if possible.
I hope you like them.

Greets,
Nielso

Write #7: The Best of 2008

`lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, December 15, 2008
December 15, 2008

I was going to write about (the mythic) writers' block this month, but I didn't have the time. I'd like a break from writing resources this month, it being holiday season and all, and so I'm doing things a little differently. Meanwhile, don't forget to take part in Litmas.

:bulletred: What you will find in this news article:The Best of 2208 | Resource news | Read this | Literature Daily Deviations: November 2008 | I need your feedback :bulletred:

The Best of 2008

I would like to mention a few people who have produced some excellent resources this year. Eight Rules for Writing Fiction by Kurt Vonnegut

1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted.

2. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.

3. Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.

4. Every sentence must do one of two things -- reveal character or advance the action.

5. Start as close to the end as possible.

6. Be a sadist. Now matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them -- in order that the reader may see what they are made of.

7. Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.

8. Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.
