Welcome to the First Anual Strictly Come Drawing!

And now Ladies and Gentlemen - your Hosts - Diane Winkleston and Dick McGougan!

Hi there everyone and welcome! Well Dick this is it, the grand opening.
Absolutely Di, I know so many have been looking forward to this - I went through several pairs of pant just this past week I was so excited.
That... nice Dick. Anyways how about we explain to the good people how this is going to work.
Right so it's starts today with an open call to all artists for the qualifying round.
That's right folks you have from now until January 18 2009 to send in your entries. This is an open round so draw what you like as long as it adheres to our rules (see below) - an example of what you think shows off your talents the best.
From there the judges will choose the top 12 as entrants for Strictly Come Drawing 2009.
Entrants will be announced on January 20 2009.
From there the first of 11 rounds will start each month with a different theme for the contestants to draw. At the end of each month the judges will give each piece a mark out of 10 and include any critiques on how they might improve.
After that the entries will be subject to a vote from the public so you will have the chance to 'save' your favorite artist from the bottom two.
Once the Judges scores and the public vote are combined then the bottom two are revealed then the judges will choose who to save and who will have to go home.
So for all you entrants looking to qualify this is important: you must be able to commit to one drawing a month - if you miss on a drawing you will be disqualified. This is designed to be a challenge and a chance to help artists grow in their abilities plus there's some fabulous prizes!
There sure is Di - just look at this prize pot and it just keeps growing!

Grand Prize - a 1 year feature in each of our journals

Now without further ado lets introduce our judges!


:iconsaiorangel: - Sailorangel has been an artist on DA since April 2005 she enjoys anime especially Sailor Moon and has recently aquired a tablet and is constantly looking to advance and challenge herself through her artwork. Although she puts her husband and her 14 month old son first she is happy to be a part of Strictly and looks forward to judging all the entries
- Silver-Eyes-Blue is well known for her beautiful watercolour works as well as her willingness to share her warm heart and a kind word. We're happy to have her here on Strictly.
- Pink Pigtails is currently studying animation at the renound Sherridan College and is known for her unique and inspiring artwork as well as her love of pink! We look forward to her input here on Stictly.
- Radiant-Suzuka hails from Australia and is known for her beautiful digital paintings and her love of anything Sailormoon. She looks forward to being a part of Stictly and the DA community.


On top of our regular judges we will also be having a guest 'Celebrity' judge for each month to help give critique and tips about drawing.

So we can now officially declare the first anual Strictly Come Drawing open! Send in your qualifying entries by posting them to your DA account and noting the link to ~StrictlyComeDrawing
But please make sure you follow our rules as stated below.

RULES

Artwork only this time sorry (traditional or digital is fine)

All pieces must be original artwork - that means no traces, no bases, no edits

Fan-characters are allowed and ocs are allowed but no existing/canon characters ie. no Sailor Moon/Mercury/Mars/Venus etc. but Sailor Dark/Neo/Purple/Earth/Flamingo/Cat/Tofu etc. are allowed

The deadlines are set in stone - if you miss the deadline you are automatically removed from the contest - we're workng with a time limit and have to keep to schedule in order for it to work

The judges comments are meant to be constructive and helpful - please do not take offence - the idea of the contest is to challenge the artists and help them improve - if your not up for it then don't sign up.
