Interview with Mind-Illusi0nZ

=BloodyZone:iconBloodyZone: reports, December 23, 2008
=Mind-Illusi0nZ took some time & answered my question. You know her works but now you can discover a little more about her. ;)

#1 Please introduce yourself

Hello my name is Courtney I am 28 years old, and I am from California although I currently reside in Montana (which I am not happy about). I simply adore deviantart, I have known about this site for many years it just took me awhile before I became a member, why you may ask I don't know I am retarded lol. Honestly I do not consider myself an artist, and never thought my work was good enough to be on such a site. I am glad I am here though. I've met many good friends, seen lots of wonderful art in various mediums, and can share my creations that I make in Photoshop. Not your typical girl. I hate to shop, loathe the color pink, will not wear heels (thank god I am tall 5'11"),like to hit antique shops, love to go to car shows,I 4x4 used to have my own truck, I am a sports fanatic especially football, and I love reptiles (used to have 5 snakes). Lets just say when I was a little girl I was out in the dirt and mud getting filthy catching frogs, and various critters&bugs instead of playing with barbies. What can I say I am a dirty girl. :P

#2 How did you get started?

I first started out in 2003 if I remember right. I was using crappy Paint Shop Pro (PSP). I was in excite chat, and voodoo painting avatars. Later I moved on to photoshop. I have only been doing photoshop off and on a few years. There are many things I still need to learn.

#3 What are you influenced by?
My morbid mind :evillaugh: To be honest I am influenced by a lot of different things can not pin point just one.

#4 What PS tools do you use most?

I like to use the clone, liquify, burn, dodge, spot healing brush, blur, sharpen, oh and the eraser I screw up a lot :giggle: I play alot with the adjustments too, mostly curves, hue/saturation, color balance, etc.

#5 Is there anything you’d like to learn to do?
To many to list! :D

#6 What’s your favorite photoshopped image you’ve created & why?

Hmm well at the moment I would say it would have to be "Distortion". I really love the way it turned out. I had a brilliant texture to work with, and it fit the image perfectly. I distorted a gorgeous model, hah it's what I do. :D

#7 What advice can you give to aspiring digital artist?

Don't get discouraged if something does not tun out the way you pictured it in your mind. Just keep practicing try different techniques until you find one that suits your style. Above all have fun, do what you love, and be original develop your own style. Never give up. I have recently been looking up different tutorials to dry and better myself, there are tons out there for you to try.

#8 How would you define your style?

Mostly dark in nature, although I do have a soft side as well. ;)

#9 Where do you find inspiration?

Many things inspire me, my twisted mind, movies, nature, music, other artists. etc.

#10 What was the first image you created in Photoshop? Tell us all about it. Was it good?

Wow I can not recall what it was, but I remembered that it sucked. :giggle:

#11 Talk us through the creation of a typical image for you. How long does it take to create?

Starts out as an idea in my mind, I can see it perfectly.
Then I search for the right stock to use, this can be time consuming at times since I tend to be a little picky.
Anyone who knows me and has seen my work know that I am all about textures, and blending them into the image I am working with.
Most of my work involves a lot of experimentation, trial and error if you will. I play around with an image many times until I achieve the look I am striving for.
Sadly I do not take much time on my work and it shows, I would say the longest I spent working on a piece was an hour if that. As horrible as it sounds I lack patience and get frustrated and just end up posting so I do not have to look at it anymore. I need to work on that. I want to learn many new techniques and need to have patience.

#12 Are there any particular brushes you like to work with?

I really do not use brushes very often, but when I do I prefer the grunge brushes.
