Excuse me for a moment, Kit here, again, to spew more all over your in-boxes. As many of you know, I, =
Sonic-Loser, am a fetish artist on the side, along with my fanart and original work. I meet flamers each day, and deal with them accordingly, or outright ignore them altogether. People flame my artwork because it is... let's get some bullets goin' here -
"Sick and wrong", "gross", "bad", "stupid", etc.
As I've discussed in my last entry of news, this is flaming. I've been told, by various people, to take down my art because it is... oh, boy, [insert personal belief here]. I frankly couldn't care less about flamers on my page, but I recently had a friend leave Deviant Art as a direct result of flaming. They were posting expansion artwork, like myself.
Now, don't mistake this as an "INFLATIONISTS DON'T DESERVE PICKED ON DX" rant. I noticed on many Daily Deviations of "Fetish Portraits" people are voicing their own personal beliefs, for better or for worse.
For example, say a daily deviation of a naked woman happens to come into play. ( Surprised? lololol. ). You'll get some people who post 'lol boobies' and you get some who say 'she looks too thin' and others who think 'she's gorgeous'. But you don't, hardly, get anyone who says, 'this is sick and wrong, take it down'.
The Gallery Directors handpick their displays each day; kudos to them for actually looking through their suggestions. Pictures of naked men and woman, and various other fetishes, make it onto the daily deviation page on a, erm, daily basis.
People praise most of these 'fetish' portraits; not even just on the DD page. They explain how beautiful the woman is, how 'hunky?' the man is, ect. People on inflation art say how they'd like to touch them, or make them bigger... it's all the same element. Enjoying the fetish for what it is.
( I'm going to use a graphic reference. If you're not a fan of naked human anatomy visuals lodged in your brain, please leave. This is an article on 'fetishes' after all. )
A picture of a busty naked woman, with her large lustful eyes staring into the camera, while she fingers herself visibly, gets the same reaction out of many men, as a picture of an inflated character of any gender in whatever position does to someone with an inflation fetish.
So, if it all leads to the same result, why is some fetish artwork flamed, and some praised? Why is a picture of a naked 'furry' different from a picture of a naked man?
Simple. It all roots back to flamers. And, furries are
different. Inflation is
different. Who determined what was normal? Who decided a portrait of a whore is any more acceptable than a picture of, oh, say, Sonic the Hedgehog blown up like a balloon? Who says the picture of Sonic is 'sick and wrong', when he's no more than a fictional character? Is it because he's not real, that the artist is 'sick'?
Or is it because their views are different?
You decide.

What -I- don't understand is why they feel the need to say something about it. Honestly, if you don't like it, just go away. It's that simple. No one is forcing this on anyone.

Shoes and shirt required. Pants are optional.
Naked is when you aint got no clothes on. Nekkid is when you aint got no clothes on...and yer up to somethin'.

You never really do know where your mind is capable of taking you until you let it drift on it's own.
I think it's more on difference there, like Winged said. This is why I grew up with all the hating crap on me. I wanted to do what I wanted, but people are all, "UR WEIRUD! >( *butthurt*" If people would open their mind and get over their egos, then DA, nay, the world would be a better place.

There you go. Though not real, that would be an acceptable comment to such things in my opinion. Or one could take the route I often take:
If you don't like the thumb, don't view it. Simple as that.
What I could never understand with these flamers is how they could get such a high out of pestering someone about what they find enjoyable and even beautiful. Even to the point of one leaving. That is just.....disgusting that someone could find joy out of that.
Bleck. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth

"I just had a conversation with myself and both of us were retarded."
It's amazing how easy it to flame when one is emotional. Not saying the people you're talking about are like that; they outright attack. I'm just saying one has to be careful to make sure they aren't accidentally hurting someone. That's how bridges are...ahem... burned.
Now I kinda feel that my last comment is flaming someone.....
(PS- this is not an attack on Saphire -_-;. Just want to make that clear.)

Well, the definition of art in the Websters Dictionary (yes, I actually looked) is the creation of beautiful things produced by the artist, painter or musician. Just for people to realize the true meaning of ARTwork.
I know that everyone is different. Everyone can like different things. So is it fair to bash someone just because of what they like, or think it is out of the ordinary? No.
Personally, I think it is enjoyable to see what people love to draw and see what inspires them. Even if it is a fetish to the people, it doesn't mean that everyone will or should like it. That comes to my final conclusion. If you DON'T LIKE INFLATION, DON'T EVEN COMMENT ON IT. Simple as that.
Afterall, this IS deviantart. Everyone's creativity should be welcome to some extent.
