Greetings Folks, Happy 2009--- I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Years. Mine went ok, went off on a photoshoot at 5 am New Years Day in the mountains of Colorado, hard to beat that! I hope ya all will kick back and enjoy this edition of the Photography-APN News Roundup. So without any farther delay, let's start it off!

Recent News on APN DD's--- Recently I wrote a journal [link] putting a call out for suggestions for DDs in the Geology, Aquatic Life, Weather, and Reptiles & Amphibians categories. These categories within APN often seem rather overlooked, so if you come across images from within these categories, holler! Also, I clarified a few guidelines for DDs, within this article, so please be sure to check it out!

DA as a Nature Photography Resource--- One of the things that seems to be so often overlooked is the fact that DA can be a GREAT resource for Nature Photographers, and one of the things to keep in mind is the resource section itself is filled with great tutorials and also things like Photoshop Actions that highly benefit nature photography as a whole! I have gathered some of these below, but be sure to check out more simply by browsing the section for resources.

Know What You're Signing Away [link] --- This is something everyone should read, really. Do YOU know what YOU are signing away as far as Rights go with YOUR images?? Many don't have a clue. (I wonder if many have any idea at all what that Creative Commons License does they assign to their images as well.....)

The Recently Discovered!

I would like to share with you all, some amazing photographers that I have recently discovered on DA. We all hear the complaints of DA becoming more like "MySpace" and how "DA is going down hill...blah blah blah", but is it really?? Recently there has been a rash of new talent joining the site, photographers who do professional level work and in some cases, are professional. I call these shooters "The Recently Discovered", and I invite you all to check out their galleries! The Unposted DD's!

I receive Daily Deviation suggestions daily, sometimes it is 10, other days it is almost a 100. Naturally I can't post everything I receive, as there are not only enough days in a calendar year, but other things come into play as well, like a deviant already having received a DD in a 3 month time strain. I keep these suggestions in a folder and call them "The Unposted DD's". It is HARD at times to make a decision on what to post and what not to, and is never easy. These are some of the images which have crossed my path as a GM and I thought that I would share some with you all. ( And yes, ~MarcAdamus has had one recently!!!! lol I think I get 10 for him alone everyday lol )
