Take a moment for you

This is something many of us are likely to take for granted. It can sometimes seem like sitting alone brings the weight of the world down on your shoulders. However, having alone time is monumentally important for everyone. We have to take the time to come back to us, to take care of our needs and our wants--if only for a moment.

Having alone time doesn't mean you turn into a grouch and push everyone away so you can be all alone. Alone time is simply a little time to reflect on you.

And why is this so important, you ask?

Our bodies are similar to the computer you're using now--laptop or desktop alike--and it's good to let it rest every once in a while. We need to recharge our batteries and relax so we're all able to continue producing spectacular art. If you don't take your much needed break you could reach burn-out.

The Creative Wall

Did you ever have the feeling that you were burnt out and had no imagination left? It's probably because you didn't take some alone time. We get so caught up in creating that we forget out the precious creator. I've seen so many people asking what the best method is for getting past a block and the answer remains constant across all artistic genres. Take a break!

Relaxation Tip

Get a stop watch or alarm clock and set it to go off in ten minutes--use a soft melodic alarm for a smooth transition from relaxation to awareness. Loud alarms can revert this process by jolting you out of relaxation quickly, if you don't have a soft alarm it may be best to guesstimate the relaxation time instead.

Turn the lights down--if possible--and sit back comfortably in your seat. (If you'd prefer you can lay down for this as well.) Now close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Allow your mind to relax. Don't worry about what every tiny noise is or what you want to do once this is over, just relax and stay focused on your breathe until the alarm chimes.

Considering you give devotion to this exercise you should open your eyes feeling a sense of rejuvenation. This isn't going to magically cure a creative block, but it's a move in a beneficial direction.
