In an effort to humiliate Israel with civilian casualties and garner support from the international community, Hamas leaders have called upon the citizens of Gaza to flock to military missile and mortar sites, as well the homes of Hamas leadership and military infrastructure in order to form human shields.

When Israeli forces called for women and children to leave the house of Abu Hatal and Abu Bilal al-Jaber, Hamas leadership via Al Aqsa TV called for the children of Gaza to flock to these places minutes before the bombs were to be dropped. Parents of dozens of children complied by sending their children in to the soon to be demolished buildings.

Further, Hamas continues to fire mortars into Israeli townships from crowded school buildings and churches, in order that they may cause the deaths of their own citizens. Recently, a UN chartered school was bombed by Israeli forces after Hamas mortar fire fell onto Israeli territory from the school building.

Finally I leave you with an excerpt from Hamas MP Fathi Hammad, broadcast on Al-Aqsa TV early last year:

Fathi Hammad: [The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people has developed its [methods] of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: "We desire death like you desire life."
