Apparently Screen Gems, a division of Sony Entertainment, in a fit of marketing insight, decided to host an online competition to design a poster for the upcoming movie "Resident Evil" based on the popular game of the same name.
The contest in now over, however, and the winning entry can be seen at the
Sony Pictures' website. The lucky winner, Nick Des Barres, got $2500 cash, a free movie poster and a private screening of the movie with a hundred of his friends.
Pretty sweet.
His poster was chosen out of 3000 submissions during the contest's run. Here's hoping that Hollywood would see the quality of the art that's out there (and in here) and sponsor more contests like this in the future.
