How did you first discover deviantART?

I met a friend, Shimi aka ~Swicca on another site where he uploaded some of his art, and we started talking about his artwork and dA came up in the conversation. He said something about the site being a much better place for art and… the rest, they say, is history. Well… except for my dragging ~tigersheart and a few others here with me.

What was it about dA that made you want to stay?

The artists. My past job history included a lot of makeup artistry and I was no longer in that industry and was searching for a creative outlet. ~tigersheart hooked me up with this thing called Paint Shop Pro… and I figured out that I could "paint" faces still. I wanted to learn how to do that better, so I started checking people out. I still suck at it though and ended up finding other artists that did this thing called photomanipulation. Hooked. Period.
Act 2- I got super involved with the community and ended up being invited to volunteer for the wallpaper gallery along side of $zilla774. If I wasn’t hooked before, at this point, I was bleeding dA droplets. Hee hee

What is the story behind your username?

Ohhh my. Ok. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I was a rebel child party girl who enjoyed the underground club scene with all my gay guy friends. I could be found in night clubs from NY to Montreal, and somehow I ended up with a “stage name” Roxxie. After a couple years of that, I grew out of that lifestyle and Roxxie was retired. Hence… FallenRox.

What do you remember of your childhood in regards to art?

Being an impatient coloring book artist. Burning my hand in clay that I softened in the microwave (because I was too impatient to let it get mushy)... and really liking colors until I was a teenager, then everything had to be black.

Was there anything or anyone in particular that prompted your choice of art form?

Lots of influence from =doorstopPhotos on the site here, because he challenged me to dump paint shop pro and pick up photoshop. I was scared shitless. Now I can’t look back. Also, the love for dark art and finding artists like =Bark and *SmxDeadlyDesignz as well as ^LawrenceDeDark and =thedaemonspawn… eventually all of that turned into collaborative brainstorming and the group =Dark-Arts-Asylum that is still kicking ass today. My love is still dark art and although I rarely have time to make it, that’s what I prefer to create. Funny for such a happy fluffy bunny like me.

Who or what motivates you to continue creating?

The madness of everyday life motivates me to take advantage of creating art. It’s free therapy.

Of your own work, which has the most meaning to you and why?

definitely has the most meaning. Although many of my works are conceptual, this one is a direct interpretation of a very significant person in my life and his past, `allhopeislost, the love of my life. Met him here too.

What are the duties and title of your role as an admin of deviantART?

I manage the growth and development of film on the site. Did you know we have film on dA?
Film is something fairly new still to deviantART and we recently celebrated our 1 year birthday. We have some of the finest videos, animations and instructional video tutorials you can find. I have 5 lovely film-team volunteer Gallery Moderators who bust their butts to find the best of the best in Daily Deviations and also let me know if there is a question about music copyright etc. with any work posted here. I scout for new filmmakers to bring to the site, review film application along with the film team for those wanting to submit film here (as we are by invitation only at this point to preserve the artistic integrity of film on dA) ☺. I do film artist features and have a shitload planned for 2009.
My delightful and devoted volunteers are `guruubii, ^Kaotika, ^feawen, ^ElectrikPinkPirate, ^kmdigital, and `misskittyoooo. Can’t not mention them, they are my eyes and ears.

What can your reveal of projects you are working on for deviantART? Personal interest?

Right now, I’m working on building a cohesive film community from the HQ hub of ^deviantartfilm. I’m also working on goals that have been given to me by suggestion of the community and the film team, as well as my own that involve bringing an HD platform for film to the site, and figuring out a successful way to have the literature community and filmmakers collaborate on works together. I’d also like to have ORIGINAL music scores able to be submitted as a resource for film so that we can actually have our own cyber production hub for film production. Keep in mind, these things are NOT approved but are included in my wish list for the coming years.

Why did you decide to become an admin of deviantART?

$Moonbeam13 made me.

As an admin, what do you want to achieve short term? Long term?

Short Term- To continue meeting more of the film community and spreading the word about the incredible platform that we have to offer filmmakers to showcase their work through.
Long Term- To be $spyed’s helicopter pilot. Ok, that’s not true. I want to grow with and retire from this company in whatever capacity is best suited for both of us. (how’s that for politically correct?)

What films in the deviantART Film Gallery do you enjoy most?

My all time favorite film artist on dA is `silvanderwoerd

What type of music do you listen to? (Specific groups/artists?)

My favorite bands are “She wants revenge” and “Tool” but when I’m creating stuff in PS, I love Marilyn Manson, NIN and heavier industrial stuff.

Which books could you just not put down?

My boyfriend’s book! Although it’s not out yet, he’s a fabulous writer and I can’t get enough of his work. Otherwise, I don’t have a lot of time to read but when I did, mostly all horror. But when reading to my daughter when she was younger, it was all about Junie B. Jones. I love that chick!

What foods can you just never seem to resist? Drinks?

1. Indian

3. Mexican
4. Pizza
Drinks? I’m a water-a-holic but if I’m getting my party on- I like white Russians or if I’m serious about the party factor, I like tequila. not very often for that….

What are your pet peeves on dA and in general?

Whining, bitchy cry-babies. On the site, and in real life.

One fact about yourself that few know about?

I spent a lot of time in animal rescue groups as a volunteer and was very involved with Trap/Neuter/Release programs for feral cat communities.

What tips can you offer to better oneself in his or her art? In
life?

Study, listen, learn and practice.
Explore, expand and follow your passion. That goes for both. ☺
