Unfortunately, there has been a recent increase in cyberbullies & cyber-harassment here on DA. This is a place for building up and encouraging artists, as a community, NOT a place to harass or otherwise attack people.

What is Cyberbullying?
Sending mean, vulgar, or threatening messages or images
Posting sensitive, private information about another person
Pretending to be someone else in order to make that person look bad
Intentionally excluding someone from an online group

Why Do Kids Cyberbully?
"Who knows why kids do anything? When it comes to cyberbullying, they are often motivated by anger, revenge or frustration. Sometimes they do it for entertainment or because they are bored and have too much time on their hands and too many tech toys available to them. Many do it for laughs or to get a reaction. Some do it by accident, and either send a message to the wrong recipient or didn't think before they did something. The Power-hungry do it to torment others and for their ego. Revenge of the Nerd may start out defending themselves from traditional bullying only to find that they enjoy being the tough guy or gal. Cyberbullying is NOT a simple thing that kids do. Children have killed each other and committed suicide after having been involved in a cyberbullying incident.

A message to DA:
If someone on the internet threatens you, you have the RIGHT to contact IC3, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. [link]
IC3 can track down the user, wither or not they use multiple IP's. Threatening another deviant IS AGAINST THE LAW!

Please respect ALL deviants on deviantART. Just because their art is different or just because they are at a different level than you, does NOT mean that their art is "crappy". Their art may be VERY good for their level. I am sure your art wasn't always as "good" as it is now, so you have no right to tell someone else that their art is "crap".
This is supposed to be a COMMUNITY of LEARNING artists, NOT a place where we tear down other artists for their own shades of art. I suggest you be repsectful of other artists, if you want people to be respectful of you.

"Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. The methods used are limited only by the child's imagination and access to technology. And the cyberbully one moment may become the victim the next. The kids often change roles, going from victim to bully and back again.

Also, if you're being cyber-bullied or cyber-harassed, simply report it to DeviantART, via their "Main Customer's" page, but pay attention to their FAQ's as well for the rules; a link is found at the bottom of your screen (if you're using firefox). Don't harass the deviant in question, just report them to DA, add their name to your ban list, and ignore them.
