reports, 2d 9h agoA friend of mine, *Flutterings came up with the idea to post a news story about mental illness in honor of the "World Mental Health Day", but with the day fast closing (at least in my time zone) and knowing she has a plethora of other things she is currently dealing with, I opted to post myself.
But my news article not withstanding, her original intent, and beautiful deviation commemorating the day and the essence should not be merely over looked, but seen and applauded ([link]).

My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations.
Artists need to be supported.
So don't be shy!
Visit their pages, support them by faving, commenting, and when you see a deviation that you like also view their gallery entirely, like that you can decide if you will devwatch them or not.
Viewing only a deviation (what is great) is not enough
And if you want to see your favorite visual artists or art selected to be in this feature for the next month, send me via note the links/thumbs!

Ehh, what's up Doc? - Animator Chuck Jones Died

reports, February 24, 2002Animator Chuck Jones died early Saturday at his home of congestive heart failure. The 89 year old Chuck Jones was best known for bringing us such memorable cartoon characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, and a host of others...
I always thought of the Warner Bros. cartoons as the 'Anti-Disney'. The Looney Tunes always gave us over-the-top characters and still hilarious stories which brought happiness across so many generations of young children and adults as well. I can still watch cartoons I've seen a million times and chuckle and even laugh out loud at times. In doing some further reading, I found he also brought us (by way of writing, producing, and directing) 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and was a main contributer to the cartoon series 'Tom and Jerry' as well. Chuck won several Oscars over his career, including a lifetime achievment Oscar back in 1996.
So even though Chuck has gone on to that big Acme Factory in the Sky, his creations and memory will live on.
