Welcome to the weekly Help Desk Updates. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date news concerning the Help Desk & FAQ, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.

Hello and welcome to the first Weekly Help Desk Update of 2009! We have a lot in store for you this year, so please keep your eyes tuned to these articles throughout the year.

Shortly following this article, the long awaited Hey Hexe! Installment #8 will be released.

If you have not already seen it, the latest Bug Juice posting has been released.

One week ago we advised all of you about some Customer Service delays, this week we're happy to report that our backlog should as planned be cleared by later today.

Sometimes in addition to your Help Desk Inquiry text, an image can also help describe your issue. But how can you show an image of your issue to the Help Desk Team? By using a screenshot of course! If you haven't provided a screenshot of the issue the Help Desk Team may request after you have submitted your ticket to follow up with a screenshot to get a better understanding of the issue you are experiencing.

So when should you provide a screenshot with your Help Desk Ticket? The best time to use a screenshot is when you notice something is not right visually, such as missing buttons, errors, alignment issues, image and text issues, or anything else that you can visually see that is resulting in a problem.

After you have taken a screenshot of the issue the best way to show the screenshot to the Help Desk is to submit it to your scraps and place a link to the scrap in your ticket. If you are unable to submit deviations you can also email the screenshot to the administrator that is helping you. In order to do this you will need to stick their username in front of @deviantart.com (for example, if I'm helping you, you would need to put ewm@deviantart.com). If you email your screenshot, be sure to include your case id# of your inquiry and your username in the subject line so we can help you further in your ticket once we have your screenshot.

Last thing to keep in mind is please do not size or crop your screenshots down. If you send us a screenshot that is really tiny we won't be able to see what is going on or if you crop your screenshot down to only the part that is broken we might be missing something important that could potentially help to solve your issue. It is always best to display the entire screenshot just in case something else in the browser window may give us a clue to what the source of the issue is. Sometimes it may also be helpful add on text or arrows pointing to the exact issue as well as anything else that might be helpful if necessary.

By reading your inquiry and visually seeing your problem this will help speed up the time it will take to solve the situation you are experiencing.

Hiya! Say, why do my comments keep getting deleted? It would be great if my replies stayed on the site for reference in the future!

Hmm? Comments are never deleted from the site: they can only be hidden by the user whose page, deviation, etc. the comment is made on.

FAQ #160: Can I remove or delete comments on my userpage, journal or deviations?

But that can't be true! Whenever I reply to a comment it disappears from the page!

Ohhhhhhh.

You must be responding to items in your message centre. The message centre is not intended to be an infinite repository of your activity on deviantART: it is only a place where notifications of comments and other types of messages are displayed.

When you respond to message centre notifications, they will disappear from your message centre, this is true. But it is only the notification of the message that disappears, not the message itself. The message, and your reply to it, are still in the place where they originated: on a deviation, in a journal, and so on.

Your comments will thusly never be deleted! Hooray!
