One of the greatest things about dA is the incredible depth of talent and community spirit we have here. As everyone here has discovered, a world of art and ideas are a click away. In my own travels, I have discovered a multitude of friendly and helpful artists whom I have grown to respect and follow.
I was interested in what these artists liked, what caught their eyes. Who looked to them to be creating great artworks, and perhaps what gave them inspiration as well. I have asked them to select personal favorites, and say a few words.
What follows is what they said......

One of the better "unknown" artists here on DA is ~
stevothomas Though his gallery is just over 20 deviations, his artwork definitely shows a sense of quality over quantity. I especially like his use of colors in each of his 'future retro' themes. Each has a different color scheme that works wonderfully with each theme and I totally believe that each of these could have been created in the early 20th century if I saw them outside of DA's galleries and in some history book.

Composition is done well, with each of them flowing off the pages edge, and with an asymmetrical balance that is pleasing to the eye. Type is handled quite well in all of them and the selection of each typeface is done sensitively to the time period that he's paying homage to.
Even I struggle to create travel posters in my gallery and am jealous at the ease and creativeness that this artist seems to put forth in his work. If anything, please see the rest of his gallery. His love of retro artwork can clearly be seen, which is evident in his pin-up work. This type of artwork is far and between here and should definitely be propagated.

I'm amazed with the simplicity of the work, the lineart is kick ass. and I like his choice in using soft color for this artwork. only one thing that bothers me. I don't like the writing. It's disturbing the whole work.
Check out his gallery, he has some good illustrations.
The Artist by ~

She has a comic style. with cell block techniques, reminds me of old Marvel's comic books. I think she should be brave enough to use gradients in her work.

The first time I took a look at this artwork, I said to myself, "this work should be in traditional". but when I full viewed it, I believe that this is vector. And he's smart on using transparency, so the work has a "water color " effect. I never thought about it before. i think you must give him more attention.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to the participants in this volume, I appreciate you all sharing your thoughts with us. Please take the time and look at each featured artist or work, and look for future installments of Cohesive Scribblings!
