Always Read DD Suggestion Guidelines

Before Suggesting a DD to a Gallery Moderator, read their suggestion guidelines, most likely they are found in the GM’s journal or their journal page (side panel) or both. Every moderator has their own specific guidelines for you to follow – that’s because we all think differently. If you don’t read it, it is likely your suggestion may not get featured.

Here is an example of a guideline for Conceptual Photography – my gallery.

Do not suggest an artist('s) piece if they have received a Daily Deviation within less that 3 months

Do not suggest Daily Deviations other than Conceptual Photography

Do not suggest a photograph that already has a whole lot of attention

I am looking for good quality, original, meaningful and thought provoking Images

Note me your suggestion titled 'Daily Deviation Suggestion' - or the name of the deviant and deviation. Include the thumb of the photograph (not the link) and a short description of why you chose to suggest it as Daily Deviation.

I will not reply to every DD suggestion nor will I feature all of them, I will however look at and consider everyone of them.

Don’t Only Look At the Deviation

Be sure to check and see that the deviant has not received a DD within the last 3 months. Also when suggesting, take your time to read the artist’s comments and browse through their gallery for similar works or styles. There has been a few incidences that some DD’s have been stolen work. To avoid this happening do a little background check first.

Check the Gallery Category

Please check the gallery categories - if it doesn't say conceptual then do not suggest it to me because I wouldn't be able to feature it. Likewise for other moderators, if they aren’t responsible for the gallery and you send the suggestion to them, they wouldn’t be able to feature it either. If the photography gallery doesn't have a specific GM then send it to either `Katerina423 or ^zerocomplex - only one! This applies for other galleries that doesn’t have a specific GM. Send Your Suggestions to ONE Gallery Moderator

If you are making suggestions, don't send suggestions to more than one moderator. If it's a photo that doesn't have a specific GM, then only send it to one General Gallery Moderator, not to me and one of them or all of us. It takes time to look at each of them, add a message to then forward it when that GM already received the same suggestion. It's time consuming for all of us.

Thumbnails

When you are sending your suggestion, it is preferable to place the thumbnail view :thumbxxxxxx: in your note. This lets us see the deviation that you are suggesting and we’re able to read your comment about it the same time. To me it engages my attention more than if you were to place a link to it.

Only Suggest One Image Per Note

If you have a lot of suggestions then please send each separately. It’s better to flood us than to send all in one note and confuse us. Remember they all need to be stored so we can find them if we need to relocate it. If it’s more than one suggestion from the same artists then send one note and choose the one’s you are indecisive on about three maximum.

Gallery Moderators Get Tons of Suggestions

We do get a lot of suggestions, and sometimes I lose where I store them (and maybe the others do too).With so many suggestions they all need to be stored, and they get mixed up or lost if I have to forward or categorise a suggestion. So if I ever feature anything, you suggested a photo and your name isn't there, please forgive me!

What I'm Looking For – Conceptual Photography Related

Ofcourse we get more suggestions than we can feature first of all. Some aren’t featured because it may already have a lot of exposure, the artist already has plenty DD’s, the quality doesn’t meet DD standards or the deviation doesn’t grab me. Whenever I take a look at the image being suggested, I don’t even look at the deviant’s name first, I look at the deviation – if it stirs me in some way, if I feel an emotion, either I can relate to it, be disgusted by it, smile, laugh, or just stare at the creativity of the photo then that’s what gets the DD. For Conceptual Photography it’s not just about a great photograph, it’s about the concept, the execution and resolution, both creatively and technically. It’s about how the photo screams for attention and the impact it creates. For me a Conceptual Photograph must have that especially if it is going to be a DD.

Other

If you are asking for critiques from staff - it will take us some time to get back to you. Or some of us may be incapable of doing it because time is so limited. If I am able, I do give honest critiques, if I know someone who I think is better at critiquing than I am, I will suggest them to you. Everyone isn’t comfortable with critiquing, there’s a lot of things to bare in mind so please don’t be disappointed if you get turned down.

If you have an image to submit but don't know if it's conceptual or not or don't know how to categorise it, note me or one of the moderators and we’ll have a look and help you find the right gallery. Which brings me to emphasise that for every gallery - there is a gallery info button in the bottom left of the panel when you are submitting your deviation. Read them.


If you sent me something (in a note) to take a look at, please consider that I do other stuff outside of dA. I will read it and get back to you. If I take more than a week then feel free to ask if I received it. If you need to know that I read your note - go to your sent folder in your notes, if the journal icon isn't yellow and its green you'll know that I have read it.
