Featured Stock
PP Inside Fort Massac Cabin 2 by stock-drop-n-roll

1:
First off - what inspired you to start a stock account? What inspired me was really #ARStock. I have been using stock for not long beforehand and this crazy bunch of girls (and LDD

) just made it all seem so fun and rewarding, plus I felt the need to give back to the community.
2:
How did you choose your username? My account actually exists from 2004 - a few months after I opened my art account. I used it at the time for photography until I realised it was silly and rather abandoned it. The name is my second online name (actually now it is my primary because of its uniqueness) and it is in the Drow language (a series of books by R. A. Salvatore) and it means blue star which, as you can tell, is rather close to blue moon

3:
What is it about the stock community that keeps you active? The stock community is very supportive and very protective of its members ( =
lindowyn-stock proves it on a daily basis

). It's so warm and welcoming that right away I had felt at home and while I thought my stock was not up to par they kept proving me wrong and giving away from their knowledge so that you may improve.
4:
How would you like your stock to be used more?I would love my stock to be used more in references - being a traditional/digital artist mainly means that I appreciate this art form very much. It always pleases me to see someone using my stock as reference because I know how hard it is.
5:
Do you have any tips for people starting a stock account?Tips.. hmm. There will be law breakers for every law you make. Take it easy, first of all. Don't panic. Think of what quality
you would like to use in your own art and only then post the pictures. I am sure you wouldn't like to use a blurry picture (unless a texture

) and so you can safely guess others won't either.
6:
Why chose to stock at DA and not morguefile/sxc/photlia/etc...Well, I already love dA so why change?

I don't really stock to be a stocker. I stock for dA, for the lovely people who give me so much love and strength and inspiration every day, so I felt and feel no need to move over anywhere.
7:
How far would you go to take a stock picture?Unlike `
pendlestock, I won't break into places (

) in order to get a stock picture. But I drive pretty far out to see my friend ~
0mri so that I could make stock of him. I got called crazy by my family multiple times for taking photos of stains on the oven. I basically take my camera everywhere with me when I can to take stock photos

8:
Are there any things that you wish people would stop doing with your stock?Nope. I don't like gory/horror stuff but I won't stop people from doing that if they please.

After all, stock is for them, not for me.
9:
Show me three of your favourite stock uses!

10:
Is there anyone at dA whose stock you particularly admire, or have any other stock artists influenced your own work?Namely `
pendlestock who got me all into derelict stuff and textures

but every stock artist out there like ~
temabinastock and ~
cypherstock.
11:
Your stock gallery holds lots of interesting resources - what (out of tutorials, textures, stock etc) is your favourite?I think tutorials are my favourites. Teaching my way - and the amount of response I get for it is just staggering. People respond real well to being taught by video, apparently and I love seeing people take my technique a step further, to places I hadn't thought of.
12:
If you could add one thing to the stock gallery to impove it what would you add?I would definitely enforce the rules better and I'd implement a feature that, with the press of a button you could note the creator of the original image.
Also, I'd make it so that when you upload there would be a size restriction - just to make things simpler for those who are looking for better stock.
13:
How long did it take for you to get sick of people singing "Bluuuueee moooooon you saw me standing alllooone!" at you?The very first time - and it was you who made it, my dear ^
Hanratty-Stock, and to this very day I get a comment like that nearly every time I log on to dAmn! So I'm a little more used to it now than when I started

Thank you for doing this interview for us!
