Now... I figured I'd featured the DDs I suggested, as they may never be picked so at least they'll get some recognition. And I have enough for a feature now

Also, I tried to pick less famous ones, so hoopefully most of these are new to you.

Portrait of the old woman by ~
Nika67I was browsing for other ArtRage users when I drifted past this thumb. Soft and unassuming, I only clicked to find out if they had other works in ArtRage. She rises out of a background of soft misty colours and I am trapped.
This gentle image draws you into to her glowing eyes, and then you become aware of the the wrinkles, the perfect shading and character of a very real person. Her silver hair adds a touch of disorder to an otherwise calm picture and has me reaching out to touch it.

I can only assume that the terrible thumbnail is the reason this has recieved so little attention (DA is not kind to the skinny format

). this is one of the most beautiful works I have seen in a long time, with such delicacy and detail that I can only wonder how long it took them. It's one in a series, all of which are very lovely and all show this same natural merging of figure and nature.

It's sort of political (About Prop 8)- but it's also really, really well written, one of the best debate pieces I've seen in a while. She covers every angle I could think of and a few more, and her very real feeling shines through in her writing, lending weight to her words.

I just love the lighting and colours and pose in this.

ehaft doesn't look too special at a first glance but fullviewing shows the dramatic gravestones in the foreground and the beautiful glow through the trees.

KarrinGrayI truly do not understand why
On Strings isn't more popular. It is gorgeous and delicate and strong, and ...well, I adore green. It's also an interesting picture, in that it so clearly contains a story, and it feels very real, in that sense.

UnseelieAllure Kiera.Triquetra. by =
UnseelieAllure is beautifully and somewhat unusually painted in warm brown and gold hues - the patchwork embroidery and detailing on the dress is rich, gorgeous and realistic, the pose is vulnerable and charming, and if you look carefully, you will even see freckles!

Neil-Thompson thinking it was just a leaf, but a closer look revealed the beauty of the fish. The image is wonderfully composed, divided into light and dark by the golden streak of the leaping fish. A closer look reveals the shadow-fish below, and finally one sees the spray of water hanging all through the picture.

casio222 I remember seeing this artist a few months ago, and admiring their strong and living scenery. Since I last visited, they've taken off, with some absolute gems glowing in their gallery.

monx-art is one of those simple, yet sweet drawings that make you look back twice and then wonder why you never thought of that...

half-scientific~
half-scientific has a beautiful and unusual gallery consisting solely of macro shots of the fascinating, rarely seen (if ever!) crustaceans and molluscs of the ocean. This photo
Soft Spikes of
Coryphella polaris (a nudibranch) is probably the most beautiful image in their gallery, but they have many others, equally amazing...

rich35211 in a feature and mistook it for a warm and mystical photo - I am no expert in 3D, but this - the light, the unusual angle looking up to the stones, the colours and the richness of the veining in the rock... I don't know. They seem alive.

keep readingWinter StormsShe was a beautiful creature, with the dusting of a chilly winter morning settled on her shoulders. Her voice was frigid and cold; just like the arctic wind that whipped past her ankles, seeping into her pale, pearl-tainted skin. Her heart was as bleak and empty as her snow glazed eyes. Eyes that hungrily gnawed at the warm summer days and waited patiently. Waiting, for the day when her frosted fingertips could graze her brothers most beloved river and turn the murmuring of their water-song silent....
