S is for Series

*Cattereia:iconCattereia: reports, December 4
Works in a series give the artist the ability to show more than just one perspective or emotion in a work. Working in such a way can also allow the artist to show time which can be difficult to show in just one panel.

A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe

=Amarie-Veneanar:iconAmarie-Veneanar: reports, January 19
Today (well at least according to US time zones) we celebrate the bicentennial of Edgar Allan Poe, the famous American poet. He was born as Edgar Poe on January the 19th of 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. His middle name Allan was given to him by his foster family, who took him in, when he was a little child. As for the rest of his life’s story, I would like to recommend you to read the encyclopedia entry Edgar Allan Poe and to have a look on the website of the Poe Museum, because they provide the relevant information in a far more elaborate style than I possibly could achieve.

Instead I prefer to offer you a small feature of deviations here on deviantART, which are related to Poe or his works.

Let’s start with some illustrations picturing Poe himself:

If there is an animal related to Edgar Allan Poe, it surely is The Raven, depicted in the famous poem as haunting visitor. Several deviations chose to illustrate that poem.

and a literary tribute:

Some deviations depicting other works by Poe:

… and I simply could not resist:

I hope, you’ve enjoyed this feature, in fact my very first news article. :)

Is it his 200th aniversary soon?

The important things are always simple.
The simple things are always hard.
The easy way is always mined.

I abselutely loved reading Poe's "The Raven". A really, really interesting book. I was talking in long, drawn out sentences for days! lol! Good idea for a feature choice!

Why is a raven like a writing desk? Because Poe used both. Excellent feature of an excellent writer.

And if I may conjecture a further objection love is nothing to do with destined perfection
The connection is strengthened the affection simply grows over time
Like a flower
Or a mushroom
Or a guinea pig
Or a vine
Or a sponge
Or bigotry

... or a banana

Thanks for featuring my work =)
