Today (well at least according to US time zones) we celebrate the bicentennial of Edgar Allan Poe, the famous American poet. He was born as Edgar Poe on January the 19th of 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. His middle name Allan was given to him by his foster family, who took him in, when he was a little child. As for the rest of his lifes story, I would like to recommend you to read the encyclopedia entry
Edgar Allan Poe and to have a look on the website of the
Poe Museum, because they provide the relevant information in a far more elaborate style than I possibly could achieve.
Instead I prefer to offer you a small feature of deviations here on deviantART, which are related to Poe or his works.
Lets start with some illustrations picturing Poe himself:

If there is an animal related to Edgar Allan Poe, it surely is
The Raven, depicted in the famous poem as haunting visitor. Several deviations chose to illustrate that poem.

and a literary tribute:

Some deviations depicting other works by Poe:

and I simply could not resist:

I hope, youve enjoyed this feature, in fact my very first news article.

And if I may conjecture a further objection love is nothing to do with destined perfection
