This is my 7th bimonthly news letter and still a colour themed one! The last one with colours though .
I only feature images that are not popular yet, as it is so easy to make great features with images that are already popular, but I want to make a feature with images not yet popular that I think would get a lot more popular if they would be seen. So the pictures I feature all have less then 100 favs at the time I feature them. I hope you will enjoy them.
The Rainbow
A rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines onto droplets of moisture in the Earth's atmosphere. They take the form of a multicoloured arc, with red on the outer part of the arch and violet on the inner section of the arch. (wikipedia.com)
The places in the different mythologies:
- Greek: Iris, the good wearing a rainbow dress and traveling over rainbow, was a messenger of the gods.
- Norse: Bifrost the rainbow bridge connecting the Earth with Asgard. It can only be used by Gods, or by the ones fallen in the battle.
- Australian aboriginal: The rainbow serpent in most tribes is seen as the creator of the universe. "The Aboriginal Rainbow is humanity, because it causes the 'energy' and the 'breath' that gives people life."
- Karens (Burma): The rainbow is thought to be a painted demon that eats children.
(wikipedia.com)
So overall you can say the rainbow had three functions/relations:
- bridge between the normal earth and the place where the gods are - Related to creating of the earth (or atleast the place where the creators come from) - Related to snakes, and through that often to bad things.
