Welcome to ‘The Knowledge’

I would like to set up a page on DA to help new and experienced artists of all genres and disciplines to access help easily and informally.

Initially I was just going to set up a site where photographers could access help from a small team of mentors, but having thought about this, I would like to take it to the next level.

I would like to set up a database of artists, where people who would be happy to help out other deviants in an informal situation, could be separated into categories ie. (photography) landscape, portrait, still life, conceptual, black and white, etc People with css skills. People who would be willing to help with basic camera skills for the really inexperienced. People who know their way around DA and could help with things connected to setting up a DA page, collections , galleries etc. In fact, a database of contacts that would cover every eventuality, a one stop shop where people could come with the knowledge that they could find like minded people who would be willing to help with advice: technical or artistic.

I would expect the help and information to be imparted through notes , with anyone wishing to take on further mentoring, using notes or scraps to help, set tasks, review artist’s and photographer‘s resulting work, and critique accordingly.

My vision is to build a database to cover every conceivable eventuality at DA. A database that would ultimately be self running, with admin there to produce newsletters, service, css and journals, and to give feedback to anyone wanting to join or be removed from the database.

I would also like to call upon the generosity of other deviants, who might like to sponsor a 3month or longer subscription. These sponsors would be recognised on the site homepage as ‘atrons’ for the length of the sponsorship. (Would like to do this myself, but those of you who know me will realise that this is a little impractical at the moment.)

Anyone wishing to be added to the database (And remember, it is not a huge commitment. If we can get plenty of people willing to share their skill, you may only be called upon occasionally.)could you please send a note to ‘hotonig’ or to ‘TheKnowledge1’ with your DA name and a specific category under which you would like to be placed. We are looking to cover everything on DA on one page, so any discipline in photography, photo-manipulation, digital art, painting, poetry and prose…..whatever. Basic camera skills, css , animation, PS skills, setting up a basic DA page (How to put avatars on, links to devs and pages.)

Let’s build our own self help database. The ultimate place to go for help for deviants by deviants.
