One World One Art Tour: Strokes for Hope

~ume-boshi:iconume-boshi: reports, December 18
This is an international exhibit that will tour several countries and by shown in multiple galleries over a two-year period. The title, Strokes for Hope, refers to painting with compassion and a forward vision. It suggests that works submitted will reflect, on some level, that the artist is thinking about issues such as world peace, hunger and poverty that require positive social change. It is hoped that works will create some viewer awareness or stimulate public thought/action about these types of issues. Work may be abstract or realistic. There is no restriction on style. Creative approaches are encouraged!

Eligibility
Open to all artists world-wide. Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces for consideration. Works selected by jurors from submitted entries will be chosen on the basis of creative excellence and quality of execution. All works must be original and completed within the last four years. Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2010.

YamiAid- We Need Your Help!

~YamiAid:iconYamiAid: reports, January 21
Greetings from your fellow DeviantArtists!

Our mission is simply called "YamiAid", a collaborative account made by various deviants towards a single purpose: to raise money for a dear friend named Yami, for her surgery and subsequent doctor visits.

:bulletblue: Who is Yami?
Yami is a pleasant girl attending a Tennesee university. She is a good friend of many in the Kirby community and is very studious.

:bulletblue: Why does she need aid?
Yami unfortunately came across terrible news at a bad time. She needs surgery, and quite soon. Her family is very poor, getting through her college mostly on scholarships from her hard work. She can barely afford the mandatory (but quickly rising) expenses for college, and she is unable to get much in loans because of the credit crisis in America.

:bulletblue: And this money will go to her?
The commissions range from $1 to about $10 and all proceeds go directly to Yami. The Paypal accepting the commissions and donations (yamiaid@web.de) will be entirely forwarded to her personal paypal, that way our artists can rest assured that their commissions were paid for and she may keep her paypal account private. :)

:bulletblue: I want to know more!
We are trying to protect everyone's privacy in this as best as we can, so this will be all the information presented publicly. If you have more questions, feel free to note this account.

:star: HOW TO HELP :star:

:bulletpurple: Post a link to this News bulletin where you can! Signature, journal, whatnot. :) The more people read this, the better a chance we will get to find artists or commissioners.

:bulletpurple: :+fav: Vote positive for this News bulletin! One click is all it takes, and there's a better chance it will not be lost amongst the other news posted here.

:bulletpurple: Sign up as an artist! We would love to have more artists on board with this, variety is always key. :) If you are interested please send us a note with some basic information (what your medium is, price range for yourself, etc). Not only would it be helping someone in need, it's also a wonderful way to practice and further grasp your own style as an artist.

:bulletpurple: Donate! That's what this is really about, afterall! Donators will be honored on our journal-- not to mention showered with gratitude.

:bulletpurple: Commission us! We're offering them at low prices to keep highly competetive and do as many as we can-- as fast as we can! If you have even $1 to spend, we want your business!

If you have any ideas how to help or contribute, we would also love to hear them. :) Thank you for your time.

this smells like a scam so much i think i'm going to puke. you people should be ashamed of yourselves. if i'm wrong i will humbly apologise, but not until i can confirm your smelly story!!!!
:iconfennfeatherdragon:
I'm all for helping someone out, but college bites everyone in the butt, myself included. I'm sorry but without knowing why she needs this I just don't feel safe donating what little I have to help. I don't need full detail, just something along the lines of "this needs to be removed" or "this has happened in this part of her body". Just so I know this isn't a scam

:icondalsifodyas:
She seriously needs it. We´re not ashamed for helping someone NEEDING it. We can hardly proof it. If you don´t trust us, that´s ok for us, but don´t write things like that. Thanks
:icondemandincompensation:
I figured someone was going to say this, but Yami does not want more information presented, so we are going to respect that no matter what.

I don't understand how a $1 commission could possibly be a scam-- considering all of us ARE artists, and all of us HAVE extended galleries.

And if you think it's a scam, talk to Yami yourself-- but do it in private and respect this please. There IS a link to her provided right under "Who is Yami", here: [link]

So, even if you are skeptical, please at least show some decency towards your fellow human being-- and deviant. =|

If you don't want to commission our artists or help, you could have just said so. :(
:iconlilithschlangenauge:
Scam? Scam???!!! Well exuuuse me, but taking comissions in my exam time is definetly not something that is easy for me or any other artists who want to help....but well, at least I can draw a giant realistic bucket for you, eben an open air pool so you can puke at it aaaall day long, it´s just a dollar^^
Ok, now seriously, it really looks like some spam mail you get at your e-mail account. But you have never spoken with any of us, you do not know who needs help, so please do not denigrate us in front of others. We just try to help and this seems to be the best way to do it. If you have a better suggestion we will be happy to listen to it.

The Creator had a lot of remarkably good ideas when he put the world together, but making it understandable hadn't been one of them. ("Mort")

I wasn't intending it on being harsh.
