You are not your pageviews
As important as you may think they are you are not your pageviews, yes they give an indication of how many times someone has visited your page, this though might be for numerous reasons. You may have porn, always a good reason for the spank monkeys but nothing much else. You might be a spammer, nice if you like processed meat but I prefer something a little more palatable! You might type like you text and therefore you are popular among the teenybopper sector that like MySpace, well done, I’m proud of you!

You are not your favs
Nice to have a lot but not a real indication you are good, there are too many examples on dA that is fantastic work that simply goes unnoticed due to the high influx of work seen on a daily basis. There are also too many examples on dA when you look and your first and only reaction is WTF! Don’t try and comprehend it, it will hurt your brain and you will have to wear a special hat to stop hurting yourself further when you repeatedly bang your head against the wall. It’s a dA thing when at times complete and utter drivel will hit the few 1000 favs, don’t question it, its for your own sanity!

You are not your watchers list
I know from my own experience having a lot of watchers is nice to have but if the majority of them don’t actually watch what do you have? A very nice long list, bravo, you can sit and admire your list, I’m proud of you!

You are not your comments
Hey great going, you have a lot of comments, sweeeetttt!!! It must be nice to be a spammer (as above, I’m not keen on processed meat!) what does it prove, you like to type a lot.

You are not dA
As nice as this place is its not life, some would have you believe otherwise but they did take the blue pill, you have to watch these people, they keep trying to disconnect you! You cannot breath, eat, kiss or as some have probably tried f**k dA (that is something I really don’t want to see) Go outside, see the world you keep reading about

So after all the negativity, what are we
We are art, we are the soul on the page, in the image, in the words, we are expression, we are alive in our work, we are a belief that we can change something, we are hope, we are historians, we are collectors of life. We show, we give, we soul search and are searchers, we are researchers, we are the path we took to get the image, we are the breath we took and had to hold so as not to disturb anything for that one microsecond. We are the pencil lead we put to paper, the oils we put on the brush, the mouse click in graphics and vectors. We are imagination, we are bursting with ideas and frustration in trying to get them out. We are the hunters of the world looking to find inspiration. We are the ones that see something others cant, we are the gateway.


We are not a series of 1 and 0 on a database, we are artists first and foremost, dA allows us to bring that to other like minded people, don’t confuse status with ability.
