The second half of 2008 wasn't the best, and I did not get around to my regular Train Features for July through December. I'm back now, though, and so that means...
It's time for my monthly train features! Photos and/or artwork of trains, train tracks, railroad bridges, railroad buildings, people by railroad tracks or other railroad-related subjects from the great deviants here on dA. I do the monthly train feature to showcase the fact that railroad photography and art - from the standard 3/4 roster shot to the artistic nude beside or on a train - is the equal of any other genre/category of photography and art. This month's selections come from deviations posted in the month of January 2009.

You might ask, "Robert, how do I get featured in your monthly train features?" Well, first of all, don't ask me to feature you. That will just make sure that I don't feature you. All you have to do is take photos, make drawings, or do paintings of trains, train engines, railroad buildings or equipment, train tracks, people on trains, people by trains or people by train tracks. I do appreciate links to and suggestions for features of train-related deviations by other folks, so if you see something you think would be a good feature in the future send me the link!
I feature deviations by pros, semi-pros and amateurs. I don't care about your overall skill level as much as I care about how one particular deviation strikes me, moves me, or makes me go "Wow!" or "Cool!" when I see it. Artsy photos of train tracks are as likely to be featured as standard roster shots of train engines. I do give some amount of preference to deviations with fewer views, but a good shot or painting will be featured even if it has a thousand or more views.

Great expectation is the breeding ground of great accomplishment or great failure.

Some days you wake up and immediately start to worry. Nothing in particular is wrong, it's just the suspicion that forces are aligning quietly and there will be trouble.
