It's been a while since the feature was done, and that can mostly be attributed to administrator error several months in a row. For those who did not get a news article featuring their work in the last few weeks, I apologize. It was a combination of hardware errors on my end, jumbled submission organizing, and little flukes of administrative oversight that caused a complete loss in ability to maintain just what images were on track for features. However, as the hardware issues have been ironed out, and the *
color-me-club has adopted new means of maintaining both line and color work that is placed on the weekly journal feature, the monthly ensemble of featured work is back.
For starters, the new dA front page system is still getting its bugs and quirks ironed out. However, it has also enabled the *
color-me-club to take out a lot of things that really served no purpose, minimizing the clutter and maximizing the ability for the members to get their work all the necessary exposure they need. It is now far more convenient for visitors to find a piece they would like to color, or to scope out other color artists to get in touch with.
In addition, the *
color-me-club commenced the "Sweets" Lineart and Color contests, and has just ended the lineart portion. We are currently in the voting stage. Non-members are more than encouraged to swing by, check out the lineart in the current *
color-me-club journal, and vote for one. The winning entry will then be the lines designated to the color portion of the "Sweets" coloring contest that will take place through the remainder of February. You also do not have to be a *
color-me-club member to participate in the color contest, so everybody is welcome to swing by, throw down, and give us a color rendition that beats the pants off of everybody else. Prizes and features to be had!
While January was full of "Sweets" and good news, an unfortunately sour phenomenon has sprouted up compliments of the *Chan boards and EncyclopediaDramatica. A certain member, who contributed artwork to the *
color-me-club between 2004 and 2005, has been openly accused of tracing work and has won a lynch mob of people trying to take them down. The *
color-me-club does not support nor condone either party, but NEEDS TO CLARIFY that if accusations on club work are made in comment form, they will be hidden. Even if the accusations are well founded with evidence. Please keep reports in note format to the *
color-me-club, where they can be handled much more easily and archived to prevent future instances of traced work getting uploaded to the club. Also remember to include a link to the original image, or if applicable, the publication in which the image was traced from. Your help and watchful eyes are greatly appreciated.
While this has been posted in the top bulletins of every journal entry for the last couple weeks, it needs to be continuously reiterated as people are still making accusations in comments.
Yet amidst this obstacle, we've still broken several records throughout the month of January. Highest pageview count since 2006. Most lineart submitted. Largest selection of entries submitted to a lineart contest. And amidst all this, some fantastic journal features.
