Introduction
It's a bit sad to see a lot of members from deviantART "yelling" at each other.
This is not another article about the tracing issue, it's not another article about what's art and what's not. It's about a community and what deviantART has been doing for the last years.
I spent some hours searching for these things, just to show the new members and to remind the old ones, the great things deviantART already did. It wasn't easy, but I had a lot of fun!
So please don't go to my page yell at me, just reject or ignore, I don't mind at all

What's a community?
In biological terms, a community is a group of interacting organisms sharing an environment. In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness.

deviantART, a different story
We all know the story, those that don't just do a little research or ask around. I decided to give you another side

According to $
spyed between August 7th, 2000 and December 31st, 2000 (the first year of deviantART)
3500 deviants joined the site, 500 of them (14%) are active today. Now the fun part of my research.

Projects
For me, some of these represent the deviantART we have today.

For a great cause
Since I joined deviantART I've seen projects, contests and donatios to help others in need. Here are a few examples that changed someone's life! (only the most recent ones)
Weeekend to End Breast Cancer
Holiday Card Project that I remember since 2004 (at least)
PinkitudeAnd then we have deviants that fight for other causes, not less important:
Be the Change
Love Crusade
44 kittens
Artists for Charity
Show me something beautiful
The Max Project
The Global Tutorials Project
Community Choice
dArama Free FebruaryOf couse this is only a few sample of what deviantART and his members did for the last 8 years!
Stamps
Some stamps for your journals if you want to spread out the meaning of community and love for deviantART.

An old message that remains

Now that you're feeling inspired by what this community is, follow the message and do like *

"If you do but one thing today make it count: welcome a new member, explore random galleries, take part in the forums & chat rooms, write about your favorite artists in your journal, note your friends and thank them for being there, answer every comment you receive & thank people for favoriting your work, be what you expect from others and they will follow your example, never forget how big a part of this community you are."I would like to thank all the people that still have those old/new and amazing works in their galleries, they are part of the community history!
