Define Art Mini Contest

While dArama is running rampant all across dA, it almost seems as if we are losing the point of this site: Art. I mean really people, attacking other deviants for various reasons, all of the "I'm leaving forever BAWWWW" journals, bombing on the choices of Daily Deviations, etc? Either this site is going through a serious regression of maturity or we are starting to forget what dA stands for.

My hope is that this little contest will help promote a more positive community spirit and get people's minds away from all this dArama and bring the focus back to art.

So I'm asking you to do a little bit of deep thinking: What exactly is art? When you think of the word "art" what sorts of images come to your mind? What does art mean to you?

Rules: Have as much fun with this topic as you like. The most creative interpretation of this topic will be the one that wins.

I'm calling this a mini contest because there will only be one winner and because I'm not looking for extreme artistic skill here. I want deviants to enjoy themselves and have fun with this contest. Want to make a comic for this? Sure! Literature? Of course you can! Abstract, a little doodle, fan art, realism, whatever you want to do go ahead and do it. All I am asking is that you do your best to creatively interpret the theme.

Remember to stick to the guidelines of dA! That means actually looking at that FAQ thing. I'll accept any entry, as long as it abides by the rules of the site. [link]

Here are some definitions of art to help get those creative thoughts flowing!

1. creation of beautiful things: the creation of beautiful or thought-provoking works, e.g. in painting, music, or writing

2. beautiful objects: beautiful or thought-provoking works produced through creative activity

3. techniques or craft: the set of techniques used by somebody in a particular field, or the use of those techniques

4. ability: the skill or ability to do something well

5. cunning: the ability to achieve things by deceitful or cunning methods ( literary )

6. forms of creative beauty: activities enjoyed for the beauty they create or the way they present ideas, e.g. painting, music, and literature

Prizes

I'm am looking for all kinds of prize donations to give to the winner because having a friendly competition to bring out the true meaning of the site just isn't enough for some people. Ahem...anyway, it isn't a contest without something to give away, right?

Keep your eyes on my journal for updated prizes. Don't be afraid to donate either. I'd greatly appreciate it. I really do want to give away some great things to the winner. If finances allowed, I'd happily give away a sub, but alas, that is not the case. However, I'm getting off track. Here are the current prizes.
