During a week, starting on February 2nd, and ending on 8th, we've been trying to give a spot of respect and admiration to the Models.
They, the models, make a big effort for us to be able to show images full of emotion and life. Without them, millions of photos wouldn't mean anything.
Lately we've been seeing a lot of immature and disrespectful comments regarding the aspects of models, and that's a no-no road for us, and so there're a few things you might not know:
What's the beauty? Can you answer? You probably can, but you probably will answer with your thoughts, and what's a thought? A personal idea.
Beauty can be everything, and when we're showing our works in an artistic platform, we expect the feedback to be constructive in the lines of how the work was developed - not how the model is ugly to your eyes.
That's something that we certainly don't care about.
Be mature, as we think you are, and instead of providing a critique about the external reference of the model, if you're allowed - that means, if you're asked to -, criticize the feelings you get from the model, not their bodies.
If critique is not wanted, do not provide it.
Photographers lie. When we try to achieve a combination of lights, shadows, field and mood, is mainly because we want to expose an idea that we have, and, in this case, models are the subjects of such ideas, acting as actors and actresses who play their part and make you feel.
This means that we can control what you're seeing by adjusting the atmosphere. Therefore, don't believe that what you're watching is what you actually get in reality. The reality might differ; don't bound over saying models are anorexic because you can't know that, and it's a rough critique to the model's health. Also, the most of the times, browsing around the models' work you'll find out how they can have many different faces and that, truly, you were tricked by a photo.
As a last resort, and if you really care, you would like to note the model directly better than flaming a photo with comments out of foundation.
They usually work under photographers' conditions, and that means they're reproducing what photographer is looking for. Those critiques, then, have to be addressed to photographer, not model.
It's their job, they're working, so place yourself in that situation: you are told to do something, you do it and outsiders come to point out that that what you did is wrong. Not
how you did it, but
what you did. Is that fair? No, it's not, because you were just doing your work. The situation changes when you ask them to tell you how the work was done from you and they say it's not totally good. Got it?

Talking aside, the most important goal of this week has been to make us feel as models, and make models feel respected and supported.
To do this, =
catsagecat, the thinker mind and who created and led this proyect (who's also been working not only during this week, but a whole month), along with persons as me who just liked and wanted to be a part of, have been featuring, entertaining and hopefully learning through images and challenges.
A list of events were set up, here is how the week has run.

Lastly, thanks to

for such a great idea, and to everyone who also helped and participated.
I hope this was somehow worth it, and to keep doing such proyects.
In any case, even though it's been a week dedicated to respect, Respect should never be forgotten.
The images featured in this article have been chosen randomly. Please, go have a look at the links posted where you'll find many other great photographs and models.
Thank you

I love what you said about critiquing the photographers!
There is a bit of irony in this statement:"It's their job, they're working, so place yourself in that situation: you are told to do something, you do it and outsiders come to point out that that what you did is wrong. Not how you did it, but what you did. Is that fair? No, it's not, because you were just doing your work" There is another group of people That perfectly fit that statement and too often they are the ones that feel the brunt of people's anger! Rather than the people that told them to do it!

Those are the types of comments that keep many larger sized women feeling like they are second class citizens and not worthy of respect in any aspect of their lives. I get told how "brave" I am for posing and posting my work on here. I don't think I should be considered any braver than any other model male or female who chooses to share what they enjoy doing.
We all open ourselves up to personal attacks each and every time we post something, and that is simply not fair. I once asked a person who attacked me personally how they would feel if some one look at one of their drawings and started saying things like you are too old/young to be drawing that, you are too fat /thin, pretty/ugly to be doing work like that you should die because you drew that... how many other aspects of art get attacked on a such a personal level as models do?
That is why I am so glad you did this and I hope it helps some people to stop and think before they write that the person in the image is real, and how would they feel if it was them getting the comment or someone they knew and cared about? We all have feelings and should be shown at least a moment of respect for trying to help get the idea of the photographer across.
