Amazing artists deserving more love - part 1

*Bilq:iconBilq: reports, February 6
This is a series of articles featuring amazing deviants with less than 30k pageviews and, in some cases, less than 50k pageviews because it’s going to be based on the amount of favourites and views of the works as well. Some of you can say that pageviews aren’t important but they can measure the popularity and personally I think that good artists deserve more attention. It contains drawing features only, either digital or traditional. In each article I will focus on 10 artist and I’ll try to write short reviews of their works. Enjoy!

Feature : Amazing Transitions Issue #2

=slayterwesker:iconslayterwesker: reports, February 2
Giving praise to those who have stuck by the mass mayhem of DeviantART to progress themselves and grow into exceptional artists. A lot of under praised artists have improved so much and have gone beyond their limits, here you can properly reflect back and appreciate these hardworking people. Witness the amazing transitions.

Mini-DDs Vol. 117

*SlyDante:iconSlyDante: reports, February 16, 2009
Hello again, everyone, & welcome to yet another edition of Mini-DDs! Where the rivers run deep with awesome, DD-worthy artwork...Or is it chocolate that the rivers are full of? Oh yeah, definitely chocolate. I think the artwork is actually just stored backstage under the floorboards or something...

Anyhow, our little extra edition that we just recently put up kind of used up everything we had to say for an amusing intro, so I don't really have much to say this time around...Yeah, we really didn't plan that one out too well. Sorry about that, folks!

Well, I do suppose I can gradually reveal facts about the little Mini-DDs experiment hinted at last time...All I can say is that it's something that would be considered a bit daring here...And that it may involve former GM/senior member `skifi...And that it'd probably be more effective if I actually told skeef about this. Eh, I'll wait until later.

Anyhow, I think I've used up enough time by this point, so let's just get on with the main event already!

Okay, so if you don't know by now, the featured artists here each receive the Golden Fefcaine Award:

...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And some almond cream & cookie bits thrown into the mix this time as well, just so you can have a little variety of tastes!

Oh, & feel free to check out the Mini-DD Archive afterwards right here: [link]

Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...

Playful Elena by *danimation2001...Damn, Capcom's artists have got nothing on this! Dan just captures Elena's spirit perfectly, from the amazing Capoeira-in-motion pose & cheerful expression to the warm, sundrenched colors, mellow mood, & the lovely & detailed Serengeti atmosphere, all captured so damn finely thanks to the luscious & attractive style that just sucks you in even more. Simply put,you would have to be fool (or have a vendetta against Street Fighter for some reason) to pass up this beauty!

Now, everyone knows it's a law that robots + kung fu = Awesome. But for those of you who refuse to believe that law, ~juliabax will convince you otherwise thank to Shaolin Robot. Of course, aside from the killer concept, the eye-catching style, wicked use of perspective, astonishing amount of detail, & excellent character & setting design definitely play a part in making this all one astonishing illustration as well. The overall result is that everything on display here is just plain irresistible, & those who disagree will jus have to be branded as lawbreakers...

Teddy Terror ep03 desktop...Wow. You know, I honestly doubt that I actually have to explain what makes this an awesome Deviation. I mean, seeing *D-pi draw that clever & cuddly little killing machine through each of the unique transformation stages with such an eye-catching & fun style, a lovely little sense of humor, & a lot of love & detail...The unholy excellency of it all is just self-explanitory, & pretty much just demands that you add this to your faves. So do it, lest you face this terror's wrath!

According to their description here, ~mopinks doesn't play by the rules...And if not playing by them results in kickass creations such as Durgakini, then I say keep breaking away! With that über-fluffy & shiny mane, the right amounts of cuteness & sultriness, some lovely coloring & a fun style, this clever little character design makes for one sweet & stellar anthro piece that one would definitely have to be proud of! The laws of nature may be against you, but you'll always have our support!

Ah, *Camillo13, you have just been on quite the roll lately...And Something under my bed is (unsurprisingly) another stunning example of your great work! With a unique & lovely style, a great amount of detail & a variety of color, & a clever concept & a feeling straight out of a storybook or an epic animated feature, this is one stellar & decadent piece of work that really shows of Camillo's strengths...& will hopefully garner her & her awesome gallery more atention! Bravo!

...Okay, the mere concept of a flying whale should have been enough to make Boo by *animaiden one epic piece of work, but thankfully it also has a sweet, cartoonish, & well-detailed style, a lovely blend of warm & bright colors, & a deliciously surreal yet cheerful mood to help make it even more amazing than it already would have been. Besides, I dare you to look at that cute little simple smiley face & not have your heart melt. That is just epic win, I tell you. Epic win.

=TheDeKay has apparently said that until now, she has "never drawn a completely finished drawing of any of my anthro characters. WHICH IS STRANGE." That may indeed be strange, but I think it's safe to say that the compeleted drawing of Junk Yard was well worth the wait! Between the kickass character design, perfectly dark & spooky colors & setting, attractive style & several sweet details from the smallest piece of scrap to the deep-in-thought expression, this is one killer anthro drawing definitely worth at least checking out (lest you face the wrath of that bat)!

~Childofthewild666's gallery is home to several epic & stunning designs for concert posters...But Murder By Death just seemed to be the standout, thanks to one deliciously offbeat concept mixed in with an attractive & unique style, some funky character design, a clever & eye-catching color scheme, & several awesome details from the little lightning bolts to the swirling clouds that really help emphasize the best parts of this beauty. With a kickass design that's as nicely odd & experimental as the band it's promoting, this is one sweet poster that deserves a spot on your wall (or in your faves)!

Remember how I've said before that unique interpretations of mythology always seem to make for amazing work here on DA? Well, if you don't, here's Momotaro by ~azurecorsair to help give you a refresher! From an impressive style that really captures the Japanese feeling to the awesome character twists, amazing colors & textures, & several cool touches scattered throughout it all, the is one lovely cartoon version of a classic tale that easily deserves all the props it can get! So make sure to give this talented artist a hand, now!

...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week, & I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
