I stumbled upon a great dA news article written by =
laceratedwrists about copyright this morning and found it most helpful.
Protect Your Work, COPYRIGHT YOURSELF.Great info with a link to a website for free copyright protection. Just one more small step to help those that are serious about their copyright protection.
MyFreeCopyright.comLike I said, it's just one more small step we can do to protect ourselves in a world where everything seems to be fair game and free for the taking.
Here's a list of things you all can do to help prevent Theft of your work. Albeit, it doesn't deter anyone determined enough to rip you off, however it does deter some people.

Disable download! I can not express enough how important it is to disable download if you don't want to find your work ripped off. You are essentially handing them your work on a silver platter by doing this. I have seen too many journals where people are furious that their work has been stolen, only to find out they enable download of a full resolution file

Disable send to mobile.

Disable sharing.

Watermark you work in a place of the image that would make it difficult to clone/heal without destroying the image.
If you need/want help learning how to watermark/put signature on your work, NOTE me, I'll be happy to help.

Add copyright information in your artists comments. Be sure to state that your work is not to be used in any way without your express written permission. Be sure to also state that your work does not belong to the public domain. For an example, look at any of my newer deviations artists comments.

If you don't want people using your work in any way, do not grant a creative commons license.

Embed your Name, Date and Copyright info into the Metadata of your images. This can be done in Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. I personally embed data as I import images into Lightroom. It's fast and efficient.
It's not an end all be all to theft, however it does help.
Remember, as Artist's it is OUR job to protect our own work. No one else can do this but us. It is our work, we must take whatever steps we can to protect it.
If you have any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please
note me. I'll do my best to help you out.

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug a camera. --Lewis Hine
