ProjectComment Anthro Features- October 2009

=MachinesBleedToo:iconMachinesBleedToo: reports, November 1
As a Staff member at *ProjectComment, it is my duty to seek out Deviations one week or older with 0-5 original comments. I am in charge of the Anthro category.

These choices are forwarded onto the admins and then featured in a news article to help give a wider audience to these under-appreciated artists by exposing them to a group of people willing to leave original comments.

An original comment is not something like: "cool", "I like it" or "nice."

You can help too. Drop a constructive, thought out comment on these artworks if you find the time. It would be greatly appreciated by both parties!

Within this article are my feature picks for this month.

The History & True Definition of the Furry Fandom

^Katmomma:iconKatmomma: reports, October 13
This article is the most all inclusive, accurate, and informational resource for every question you have about the Furry Fandom. It Provides a complete chronology of Anthropomorphic Characters & Concepts throughout history, And CLEARLY Defines what this "fandom" is all about.

Before you read this little blurb I'm writing and think to yourself "Why do I care? Furries are weird people" Reconsider your thinking. If you enjoyed Disney films and Old-skool cartoons to any degree, then you share an interest with millions of people world wide. You don't have to be obsessed. You don't have to be attracted to a Vixen built like a brick house. You don't have to draw talking animals.........

all you have to do is appreciate animals, objects, or natural phenomena that can relate to you, emotionally, behaviorally, and to some degree, physically.

Obviously there will be people who prefer not to be labeled. But please make sure you have read what the entire article presents before you take offense to this. Because really if you've truly read it, there is no reason to.

A very interesting read for anyone who has doubts or concerns. Highly educational and you'll get a history lesson too. ;) Check it out!

Much appreciation goes to the author of this Document. I did not write this, and the article does not reflect my opinion. But there is a lot of good useful info in there that will get you thinking.

Silverlight: Traditional Anthro Pieces

*coffinberry:iconcoffinberry: reports, February 19
I spent a lot of time today online, perhaps more than I should have... but I came across quite a few traditional pieces featuring anthro'd characters that I thought deserved some special attention. I tried to pick them based on uniqueness and styles. So here's a select bunch that I hope you enjoy, and that I hope you'll be tempted to explore the rest of the artists' gallery.

Gangster Rabbit by *Cloxboy. Come on, look at that expression.

Bookmark - Brer Rabbit by ~juruken. That look in his eye is that of a tricky, tricky bunny, as Brer was.

The World's First Cruise Ship by *theartyst. An original take on the story of Noah's Ark.

Young Fox by ~VisionCrafter. Just adorable.

Finished Vei Sculpture by :linkT-Tiger:. Don't see many anthro sculptures that pull off this type of detail.

Finshed and Painted Fox 1 by ~forgotten-forest. Okay, I lied above. Here's another.

No Recourse by ~Imperess. Anthro isn't always animals! Here we've got a mushroom man who seems a bit perturbed by some mice crawling on his cap.

Afternoon Tea by *yaamas. Another example of anthro being done with non-animal... well, almost. Check out the little party under the branches.

The Greenland Invader by *maryarts. Do not attempt a battle with a walrus, especially one with a tusk piercing. You will lose and you will lose HARD.

Ready for Work by ~mrtns. A different style of work, not clean cut but that gives it charm - not to mention the fact that she's dressing a kangaroo for his big day at work.

Pudgeyena Ballet by ~caramitten. I had to include hyenas somewhere! Dancing fat hyenas! How graceful they must be.

Amade by ~cidaq. Mozart as a poodle, a great take on those hairstyles they wore back in the day. If you like storybookish characters with the anthro style, you must see this deviant's gallery. I am officially in love with it all.

That's it, I hope you enjoy them and I'll be on the look out for many more.

Traditional media should be given more attention; nowadays, digital art is almost everywhere, people don't really pay attention to older media. I feel that the skill level and techniques used in traditional media require more time spent for perfection. So I think you made a reasonably good feature on non-digital media art pieces. Nice feature, and do keep posting.

I AM (DEVIANT), THEREFORE I AM (DEVIOUS)!
:iconcoffinberry:
Aye I actually don't care to debate traditional vs digital. Both have their positives and negatives and both require a lot of thought and work.
