Definition of Phoenix:

A phoenix is a mythical bird with a tail of beautiful gold and red plumage (or purple and blue, by some sources [1]). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek). The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — it is also said that it can heal a person with a tear from its eyes and make them temporarily immune to death. WHAT'S IT FOR?

As I look around DA these days, I see a lot of people who are sick, having serious and even life threatening health issues that remind me personally of how fragile life truly is.

Beyond illness, we all go thru hard times each day - lost jobs, no jobs at all, we need money, we need a home, we need someone to watch our children, we need to move, we have relationship problems, we get divorced, we break up, we hit creative blocks, we argue with friends, loved ones, family members... we fight within our own selves, angry with where we are versus where we think we should be.

The Legend of the Phoenix is a simple one, and one dear to my heart: That no matter how horrible life can get, we can rise up from our own ashes and start again. Sometimes we do it only once, sometimes we do it many times. We constantly reinvent ourselves so that we can grow, learn and become better people, for ourselves and for others.

SO... I invite you to create your RISING PHOENIX - make it a reflection of your OWN new beginning if that is where you feel you are in life right now. Make it a symbol of how you are rising again.

There are no color restrictions on the Phoenix that you create. Even though folklore points to gold and red - blue and gold. Use the color that feels right TO YOU.
